RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - Chas - 05-31-2023 Wow. I find myself stopping there several times a week. Have been for years. Always a pleasant experience. RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - punikahakaiferret - 05-31-2023 @kalianna: I thought MethMart was the 7-Eleven in Pahoa...*that* place is choke-scary! RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - Chas - 06-05-2023 Oh well. Looks like they KIND OF "fixed" it. There aren't as many holes and they aren't quite as deep, though I saw one that was still 6" deep or so. I was hoping they were going to put down asphalt. RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - terracore - 06-07-2023 Social media reported that the contractor dug/broke up the last several years of cold patch and other temporary solutions and graded / compacted it back down. So not a real repair, no paving, more like tearing off a bunch of band-aids and recycling them into a larger band aid. If true, a couple of good rains, or one epic rain, will have it looking like a bombed-out runway again. RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 06-07-2023 looking like a bombed-out runway Why not put metal plates over it? “Temporarily.” Instead of pretending there’s some imminent repair coming from the menehunes? RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - HiloJulie - 06-07-2023 Why not put metal plates over it? “Temporarily.” Could make some big bucks with a metal plate rental company! repair coming from the menehunes? They better be card caring Union members! RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - kalakoa - 06-07-2023 I'm amazed that Hawaii can't manage basic infrastructure such as "paved roads" (or, in many cases, "adequate roads"). What's even more incredible is that people continue to tolerate it. Is the "cheap land, low taxes" really worth crappy roads, no mail delivery, and gaming Amazon for packages? Serious question. RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - terracore - 06-07-2023 Agreed. Have you seen what's happened to many of the big cities on the mainland? I'll take the Orchidland roads over sidewalks full of tents, feces, and needles any day. RE: Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles - HiloJulie - 06-07-2023 Yeh. Good thing we don’t have any of that here in Hilo or Pahoa! |
