Honestly, it's always been a bit of a freaky neighborhood, it's mostly the locals who define the quality of the neighborhood. About 50% of what's there isn't permitted. No HOA or such. We got the resident with enough heavy equipment to move half the island parked in his front yard, the guy who has 100 roosters in his front yard, another guy with "hunting" dogs that get loose occasionally and try and murder someone's little dog or cat, etc. All of this was there long before I came along, so I try and play nice.

It's the high dollar STVR rentals that are the new development. And somebody started an ATV tour company out of their place too. None of this bothers me. I'd love to make a little money, seeing as how my property taxes have done what everybody else's has (tripled in a few years, no end in sight).

I think I'm talking myself into just listing the whole shebang and moving onto greener pastures.
We live in HPP. Nice house on a landscaped acre. Trees, privacy and tropical fruit year round. We have one squatters house, a few dog houses (chained up dogs in crates) rooster farms pretty typical. We have been here close to 20 years. We love our house. If we could move we would but where to? Too many people with no respect for others.

I'm starting to see the value in a HOA.

A couple of dubious vacation rentals have popped up on our road in recent years. They cause no problems for me at all and in fact increase the security of the neighbourhood by increasing traffic on an otherwise too quiet road. I've always been a believer in live and let live. Unless you cause problems for me, I got no beef.

Across street from me. Fella rents out junk cars to sleep in and has several pallet and plastic structures people live in. No water no sewage, no electric. Plenty of dogs left to run loose. In theLast 2 years 2 people have died there. Several calls to health dept. and anyone else I could think of with no results. They said he won't come to the gate so they can't inspect the Property An illegal vacation rental would be a step up and a relief not having very strange people wandering the neighborhood at 2am looking for stuff to steal. Taking Paradise out of Paradise Park!!!

Geez, that's terrible. I'll consider myself lucky.

They said he won't come to the gate so they can't inspect the Property.

"They" can have their access mandated by legal order from a judge, if it's not too much trouble. The requirements are all spelled out in the laws.

HPP does have an HOA, but it's for the road maintenance only. There are no CCR's. The quality of life depends on who your neighbors are.

I wonder if these rules apply to monasteries, rectories, churches offering asylum, etc?
