One of my best Thanksgivings I had... was volunteering for a place on Oahu. If you would like... I can look for places here in Hilo that might be looking for volunteers.

I felt better after helping serve 200 people a dinner that they might not have had otherwise... then I ever did having a Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Being thankful to give is the best thanks you can ever give to yourself.

If you don't find anything to do... My Ohana tends to take in people for Thanksgiving... don't be afraid to ask... however our dinners are far from traditional "mainland style"... we tend to go a bit overboard for all holidays.

Thanks to everyone for the invitations and suggestions; we've made reservations for the Lodge, since I have yet to figure out how to prepare a pot luck dish with my only ingredients being ferns and rocks...
