I hate the Glory Bush. Seems like I have a million of them on my property. And they are HARD to kill. I have been trying to pull them out by the roots but since they can meander 10 feet or more through the brush the roots can be hard to find. Has anyone had any luck with eradicating them from their property?

I found a really good guide to invasive plants. It has lots of pictures and some good info. Not as comprehensive as I would like as there are some species that I didn't see there but I know are problematic. A good primer though.

Yes I have been pulling them up where ever I can and chewing the rest up or loping them off even with the ground. I have quite a few massive bushes that will require the chainsaw to chop down. Do I dare use a systemic brush killer on the stumps?

@HPPGuy Thanks!

Here is an interesting study done: http://scholarspace.manoa.hawaii.edu/bitstream/handle/10125/5887/060.pdf?sequence=1 They list 20% Garlon 4 in diesel on cut stumps.

After needing the above study they say that with both the Garlon and Tordon bush killers that no non - targeted trees were harmed. So I may give it shot as it looks like the glory bush is really hard to kill.

I look forward to hearing how that goes, Microage.

Wow, I just checked out the price of Garlon 4. 299.00 for a gallon of the stuff. Must be pretty potent. Sounds kinda scary, wouldn't want to get that into the water table here.

I am actually going to give this stuff a try : http://www.amazon.com/Tordon-RTU-Cut-Stump-Killer/dp/B004RCWG40/ref=pd_sim_sbs_indust_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=1BR0W3616051CQEZW10R The study said it was like 75% effective at one time kill. 19.00 a qt seems more reasonable.

Well definitely let me know if it works. I was outside pulling (and digging) these stupid weeds out by roots, that gets old fast.

I have killed both waiawi and glory bush with round-up but in each case it took more than one application. I applied to the foliage for the glory bush. That took multiple repeat applications. I cut the waiawi and put high strength round-up on the stumps, then applied to the new foliage as it tried to re-sprout.
