RE: puna fresh foods becomes foodland - kani-lehua - 10-08-2009 yes, i agree that the puna not so fresh store had outdated merchandise. the dairy section in particular. those items didn't seem cold enough. if the new foodland were to be like the one in waimea that would be great. or, even better if it were like the one in ala moana center. Miss the kalbi ribs I like and the Aki black pepper poke. What will happen to the employees? There are some really nice people who work there. RE: puna fresh foods becomes foodland - kani-lehua - 10-08-2009 i have a very good kalbi marinade recipe if you'd like me to email it to you. very easy. the employees at PFF have been encouraged to apply for postions at FL. there is one very friendly at PFF whose customer service is terrific. i think his name is poncho in the fish dept. So I'm glad for the change. Wish they could keep the name and signage though - always LOOKS like a good place until you want to buy something. I recently paid over $5 for 4 rolls of TP. I pretended I was on vacation and had to pay it. I wonder if there was a problem when the dairy shipment was in transit? Carol RE: puna fresh foods becomes foodland - JerryCarr - 10-19-2011 If the new management held over some of the old employees who didn't do such a good job in this regard, history could be repeating itself. Having said that, this sort of thing can happen occasionally even in good stores. When it gets to be frequent and habitual, I take my business elsewhere. RE: puna fresh foods becomes foodland - hikatz - 10-19-2011 Stores also have a practice of moving items that are not selling well, to other stores in their chain, have found items way past expiration dates at Foodland, this is why I now check dates on everything! I like KTA but I still find items past their due date, I just bring it to the managers attention. Most of the time it's kids stocking the shelves and refrigerators and they don't remember to look for old merchandise. Also look at the packages of meat, cold cuts and fish, have found some packages are marked with wrong item or price. Marked down bakery items, check for mold. All the stores are good about you returning items as long as you have your receipt![] RE: puna fresh foods becomes foodland - Carey - 10-19-2011 I did call & speak to the manager after noting someone else had a swiss problem...He agreed that it was the management that are responsible.. It is not even an issue of replacing the item, (Kraft offered a free coupon when notified) It is that this store had a reputation from the past...one that took me almost 2 years to overcome & become comfortable shopping at...and then to purchase a dairy product that was 2.5 mos. overdate! (major uckkk factor opening the re-molded cheese....) - I called Kraft because I was not positive on their date system (was it a manfactured on or sell by/use by date - not noted by the label! but it was sell by) I also do realize there can be problems shipping a perishable product half way around the world.... but the management is responsible for making sure that the products for sale meet the manufacturers sell by recommendations....and the manager at Keaau Foodland did not, at least on their sliced Swiss products at least two times recently! |
