And I assume they will also want to tax social security! All of a sudden Florida is starting to look pretty good for a retirement home!

It doesn't bother anybody that our new governor is continuing to spend money we don't have ?

How about this ?

http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/20110213_Fees_might_rise_to_fund_road_repairs.html

Hawaii drivers are being asked to pay about $50 more per vehicle on average annually to meet a shortfall in funds to repair the state's pothole-dotted roads, a problem of the government's own making.

Lawmakers depleted highway funds over the years, taking $145 million that was meant to be used for transportation to pay for other programs. Only $17 million was left this month for road repairs, a relatively small amount compared with the $86 million annually the Department of Transportation says it needs.

Does anyone know which funds have been depleted that need to be restored ??

I see nothing but years of ever increasing taxes here in Hawaii.

I think you are correct and we will see increases in taxes long before we see a reduction in wasteful spending. I have been most concerned about the way our state and county are regularly (in my opinion) gouged by vendors, contractors and consultants. Long before we see reductions in education I'd like to see a real tightening up on the procurement process (corporate welfare).... which is something Abercrombie said was on his agenda. I am willing to wait.... awhile.

Anybody who voted for for Abercrombie thinking he was gonna reduce spending and not raise taxes (fees or by any other name), Bernie Madoff is waiting to invest your money...

Yup tax and spend - nothing new with the concept. I know the economy is slow and we need a boost.........

The crime in my opinion is: the government didnt stash anything during the good times either - thats simply malfeasance - or worse. Raiding all of the other funds like to boom times would never end

Just charge it well pay for it next decade........
