RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - Carey - 03-02-2012 Both are goos, the BIAN sale has sooo many more choices (usually) as it has vendors from more than just Pant It Hawaii (they are big for trees, many the more 'commercial' varieties) but there are (usually) many many more nursery people from around the island that have some very exotic selections, of trees & flowers, and shrubs, and and and Oh, I have a few holes to fill, so yup, I am planning to be there! RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - macuu222 - 03-02-2012 Plant it Hawaii is big with their fruit trees. Every variety I've purchased there did fantastic. Although the planter may also have had something to do with their success! RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - allensylves - 03-02-2012 I went, I saw, I bought - 2 palms with edible fruit and 2 bamboos, one of which has edible shoots and the other is a large timber bamboo. PIH did not bring what I wanted, so I will have to wait 5 weeks for their sale. Allen Finally in HPP RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - Kelena - 03-03-2012 Which palms that have edible fruit did you get? I do hope the rain abates a bit for the ulu festival. So generous is she with the rain but this generous rain and the ulu festival on the same day is too great a gift! She must keep one. We cannot receive the gift of the ulu festival unless the rain stops. So stop the rain, I'll get the ulu and then the ulu and I will be ready for the gift of the rain. RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - allensylves - 03-03-2012 Attalea cohune = Cohune palm and Oenocarpus bataua. Kapoho Kai Palms is selling acai but I already have some of them and hers were not labeled if they were the more desirable Para dwarf. Heavy rain in HPP but the radar shows very little at the ulu festival, so I am hoping! Allen Finally in HPP RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - macuu222 - 03-03-2012 Rain is too heavy here in HPP to go anywhere. BIAN is going to have to wait till next year for us. RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - allensylves - 03-03-2012 It was raining here at Makuu/22nd when we left about 9:00 for the ulu festival, but not when we got there and very little rain before we left. Several good talks, good ulu food samples buffet and a fair number of people. It started up raining as we were leaving Sukhothai Restaurant in Pahoa and continued until we got home. Allen Finally in HPP RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - macuu222 - 03-03-2012 Ok..I said I wasn't going to go...but I did. I'm glad I did. It wasn't raining very hard in Hilo. I got a Shirwil Avocado tree from Plant it Hawaii, a blueberry plant, a verigated Boganvilla and a Golden Brush Ginger. RE: Plant It Hawaii and BIAN spring sale dates - Dot - 03-03-2012 Aloha all, toughed out the rain this afternoon and made it to my first bi-annual sale finally, what fun! Vendors were very friendly considering they had been answering questions all day long! Strong back coming over tomorrow to dig my holes (I'm spoiled), giving them my gardening mantra - get tough or die......there will be another sale next year! Mahalo Puna Web for this update! Happy plant blessings to all......Dot |
