So as long as there is money flowing, it wouldn't matter if you didn't have any? Some economic concepts are getting mixed up.

Re the telescopes: the entities providing the money for the telescopes and related expenditures are not getting any financial return on their investment. Clearly they might not have excess cash as a result of owning the telescope since it was actually a cost to them with no revenue generated. So you would tell them because money is flowing, that is, the island has an economy, they need to provide money for something? Yes, they have put their money into this economy, with no financial return, but you just want more?

Well money is flowing in Hawaii. I have my Medicare on the chopping block and might die without medical care. But I know someone who lives where money is flowing! I'll ask you for the money! That's fair, right?

The telescopes don't make money. Period.

Oh and I forgot to mention the irony of someone saying bad things about telescopes when KECK paid for education for their granddaughters. Gratitude much?

That was a gift that was paid for out of money not made by the telescopes. A generous gift. Are you demanding more gifts?

Saying rotten things about Tom's telescope is so ad hominem it isn't even worth me bothering with. He can educate you about how important it is scientifically...that is what telescopes produce. Science. Not lucre.

Gypsy the life force is still there. Worry about climate change. That is affecting weiku bug, silversword, water. If we are to survive climate change we will need a lot of science along with our spirituality. I believe there is room for both.

Glad you did not punch anyone in the face!

I do not know enough about helicopters to know if one could get to the top of Mauna Kea.

Most available helicopters can make a landing at the summit region, few will be able to take off again safely. There are already designated landing areas for helicopters in case of dire emergency, but at lower elevations and their availability are subject to weather conditions. It's much faster and more reliable to evacuate a victim by road from the summit.

Wait, what?

"I Enjoyed playing with my son and chasing my little white ball all day. Also did not have to yell four, or punch anyone in the face for a nice change."

It seems golfing etiquette is a little different here...

Or maybe not.

With a victim or two plus medical team? I don't think so.

I am half Italian. If I wanted to show someone what hysterical looks like, I probably could. Right now I'm so calm it's downright boring. When the frying pan hits you, you'll know.

My panties aren't twisted. Not that you are allowed to see my panties. I don't want to see yours, so let's move on from the panties topic.

Well da kine, dear, I actually agree with you that employee benefits are earned, not gifted, to the employee.

But in macro, where we are talking about money flowing, all telescope expenses are being put into the island's economy with NO financial return. The island may demand more, but the money for any more would not come from the profits from the telescope, since the telescope is a big financial deficit with no profit, doesn't even break even, no revenue.

Despite this, a lot of money has been asked for and promised. You want more? How much more?
