RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - leilanidude - 07-19-2019 Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is calling for Gov. David Ige to withdraw his emergency proclamation, delay construction and bring parties together to further discuss differences. --------------- Tulsi should just shut up. These protesters don't have enough votes to elect her president - ever. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - glinda - 07-19-2019 I sense the thing that is missing in this discussion is an understanding of the history of resistance here in Hawaii. Nobody seems to understand that the kupuna who sat in the road, who were arrested, are rock stars in their own right. That they are living saints to a movement that started when the kingdom fell, but was really awakened with the generation that are now the elders. In their youth they took a stand for Kahoolawe that marked a change from passive to active resistance here in the islands. If we consider that many of the kupuna are old and they are close to their leaving, then it is easy to imagine this is that generation's last stand. When foreigners see pictures of those kupuna being carried into vans, being shackled, I do not believe they understand the reverence even the arresting officers gave them. I do not think people have any idea how much, to the heart, those images have struck every Hawaiian all over the planet. It doesn't matter whether the viewer cares one way or another about the TMT. Those are everyone's kupuna. And they, the elders, are, by their humble quiet action, calling a whole nation to rise. The elders asked their people for silence. They said, clearly, to every microphone stuck in their face. This is our moment. I do not think the people here, on his board in this thread, have any idea of the power of their words, their actions. But as ironyak said, the gov made his bed, now he's going to find out what it's like to lay in it. I found this video to be the most moving, most perfect, imagine of what is taking place right now. I do not think it's release is for its entertainment value alone. Though it is exquisite. Brother Iz is smiling. But recognize, it is what they released just now.. within the last few weeks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVuvKIFa6kc And if you can not hear their voice, their spirit rising, in it. To me, you are deaf. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - ironyak - 07-19-2019 Word is that Ige is on island and has done flyovers of the area. Mayor Kim has says that the National Guard will be standing down. Ige supposed to give press conference shortly. ETA: HNN confirmation https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2019/07/19/governor-visits-big-island-amid-growing-tmt-protest-base-mauna-kea/ RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - knieft - 07-19-2019 quote: So the “Kupuna” “arrested” are back up there? Cheers, Kirt RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 07-19-2019 Mayor Kim has says that the National Guard will be standing down. So the Guard will stand down, instead of standing around? I’ll watch for the change in posture. Mayor Kim, grabbing the bull by the tail. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - kalakoa - 07-19-2019 Mayor Kim, grabbing the bull by the tail. Mayor Kim, hiring consultants to schedule "listening sessions" to possibly "determine the need" for a bull-grabbing operation which can commence just as soon as sufficient grant money and all the necessary permits have been acquired. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - ironyak - 07-19-2019 kneift - So the “Kupuna” “arrested” are back up there? Just down the road, they were given the choice of citation or being booked in Hilo. Many/Most choose citation and were back up there the same afternoon (as seen in many of the videos). Or to answer leilanidude's question as to why law "enforcement" doesn't stop others from taking their place, the police are not really trying to clear the road - the arrests have value for both sides in the PR campaigns underway. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - knieft - 07-19-2019 K. Cheers, Kirt RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 07-19-2019 they took a stand for Kahoolawe Yes, I think I see the connection. Kahoolawe = destruction Mauna Kea = construction At their root both have -struction, making the words nearly identical, close enough anyway, so therefore, i.e., basically we’re talking about the same thing. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - knieft - 07-19-2019 Even reason cannot defeat unreason. Cheers, Kirt |
