RE: What subdivision has best weather - EightFingers - 05-18-2012 Reminds me of a funny story. Walking along Paradise Ala Kai road and we got to talking to a couple that lived by the ocean there. First thing they asked was how did we like vacationing in Hawaii? Curious why they asked that, I asked them how could they tell we were on vacation. Well it was we were wearing shorts and everyone else was wearing long pants and sometimes jackets. HPP had gotten "cold" for them in the winter. So you do get "used" to it. One other thing to think about is as you get older, you are less able to keep warm and a warmer climate might be more comfortable for you. RE: What subdivision has best weather - SoCal_to_Hawaii - 07-12-2012 We will be moving to Hawaii in the next year or so and have settled on HPP. My question is, how far back does the sun-belt go? We've guessed about 4th or 5th St. I've seen a post here that suggests 12th. I've also seen a post that the trade-winds stop about 5th - something I had not really though about. Any thoughts or insights would be much appreciated. RE: What subdivision has best weather - Kelena - 07-12-2012 As a rule of thumb, the "blue hole" is said to go back to about 10th, but the clouds are not always good about obeying street signs. Pretty drizzly right now and I am well below 10th. Sunniest weather in Puna, I think, is along the strip from Kapoho to Kalapana (ka leo nui!) RE: What subdivision has best weather - Green - 07-13-2012 Seaview.......alot less rain and usually gentle breezes and partially cloudy at times RE: What subdivision has best weather - bluesboy - 07-13-2012 i heard it stops precisely between 8th and 9th at the large ohia tree! and now, for a really cool interactive rainfall map - http://rainfall.geography.hawaii.edu/ RE: What subdivision has best weather - Greg - 07-13-2012 I live on the dry side of Pahoa. RE: What subdivision has best weather - oink - 07-13-2012 Cool map bluesboy. According to that, my HPP lot gets 126 and my Volcano lot gets 148. Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. And ocean breezes can normally be felt up to 5th street. |
