RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - Opihikaobob - 06-19-2014 quote:My mistake, was thinking TL, not TH. My bad. Although her running ads for PGV improves my opinion of her. If she's trying to emulate a newspaper with a news blog, she should be running ads that come in whether she personally endorses the product/issue/service or not. [/quote] That would be the ethical way I suppose, I wonder if she could legally refuse an ad if she wanted too ? Me thinks , yes, since there are not laws saying that the news has to be truthful, or so I have heard. RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - JohnDW - 06-20-2014 I listened patiently while Daniel Cunningham et al addressed the crowd the other night. I work with the public and like to think I can accurately assess an individual based on their responses. Perhaps your accusations are true, but the person in question is not here to defend himself, nor have I been shown documentation to support these claims. Be that as it may, have you noticed how little anything of substance is actually posted in this forum? Wouldn't it be helpful if we could allow the candidates to rise or fall on the feasibility of their proposals? How about if we rationally discuss the plans each candidate offers? By the way, my most bitter disappointments have usually come unexpectedly. RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - Mendo - 06-25-2014 I know two volunteers for two different candidates in this race who say that Paleka is tearing down their signs. Obviously I cannot prove it as this is a dark-of-night type of activity. I'd like to hear the candidate disavow such actions and, more importantly, tell his cronies to cease. RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - PauHana - 06-26-2014 Two people said it, it must be true! If you put your signs in the highway right of way the road crew will take them down. You should have known better. If you put them on private property without asking, the owner has every right to take them down. You should have known better. The repeating of admittedly unsubstantiated rumors generated by opposing candidates CRONIES is what I would like to see disavowed. RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - kalakoa - 06-26-2014 No, it's true because I read about two people saying it ... on the internet. RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - KeaauRich - 06-26-2014 I wish all the candidates would have their cronies take down all their opponents' signs -- maybe that way we could again enjoy our area's natural beauty unfettered by political propaganda. RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - pohaku_uli - 06-26-2014 Regrettably I was unable to attend, but just watched two youtube vids. I have just a couple of thoughts regarding Ms. Hunts statements: Tiffany: "I really learned a lot about 25 Aupuni st" Isn't this the same "journalist" who called Councilman Donald Ikeda an "asshole" in a headline on her blog? Tiffany: "I understand what the county council members should be doing" Isn't this the same blogger who called the work of Ms. Jamie Kawauchi "Sloppy Seconds" (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sloppy+seconds) I don't know Ikeda, but have known the Kawauchis for years, they are really fine people. For me, seeing Jamie's name headlined that way made me kinda sick, and really told me a lot about Ms. Hunt; I have not read her blog since, nor do I patronize any of her advertisers. If our district were to be represented by Ms. Hunt, I'm afraid we'll only get more schoolyard taunts and gossip. The votes in our house will go to Mr. Paleka or Ms. Pueo. RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - kalakoa - 06-26-2014 Tiffany: "I understand what the county council members should be doing" Many people claim to know what the Council "should" be doing, but what's important here is what they are "actually" doing, and for whom. RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - csgray - 07-05-2014 My prediction is this race has so many candidates that no one will get over 50% of the vote and it will go to a run off. Damon Tucker is running a poll on his website for all the races, but it is not a scientific poll by any means. Carol RE: Hawaii county council district 5 race - viviansuet - 07-06-2014 The Damon Tucker poll is not scientific, as you can vote outside of your District....but the popular vote does seem to carry weight... here is the link to the District 5 Race.
