Virtually every post he has made is an advertisement. Not what I am looking for on a community forum during a crisis, that is what the unclassifieds are for. But he posted two different "I can save you money" responses on the introduce yourself thread. It doesn't matter how many days passed before he did that since the other people posted, he took their post and used it as a springboard for a promo for his business. Like I said earlier, there is a time and place for everything.

I've been self employed, I understand the desire to network, but people here are facing major changes in their lives, including losing homes and businesses, that shouldn't be used as a selling opportunity by someone with a product or products to sell.

Three posts that mention his business...how horrible! Never mind the fact that those changes might mean people needing a means to make their catchment water potable.

edit to add: I live in lower Puna.

I said I was done. I made a not particularly strong statement. You then asked a question, I responded, can you just leave it alone now?

"I am here to help and will travel 2 hours from Waikoloa to the Hilo side just to help folks."

written on the berkey rep's posting. seems he has another aspect of his 'heavy hand'. why not take him up on his offer?

I got spammed with email from Berkeyguy too.
It's kind of funny because in one of the recent Iselle topics I posted a glowing rec for the Berkey filter, which I already have.

Read the forum a while before cold emailing. Love the product, dislike the marketing from this rep. We have the Big Berkey. It did not come with a fruit basket.

I am north of Hilo, but I have a friend who is "a wreck" from the stress who is south of Kapoho, and her family on island (she is a senior) is unfortunately in HPP, which is close but not close enough.

Was down in Kalapana yesterday and talking to some people who are not very perturbed at the new situation, but some people came here to be self-sufficient, and others have a life where getting out around the island and being tied in to services is the status quo.

For those complaining about unsolicited advertising when outside this forum, many of your experiences would not be due to an act by an individual sales rep. What you've described are built in functions of your web browsers that can be disabled. Many web browsers have built in functions to identify key words and product names you have entered and sites you have visited in an effort to select advertisements shown in your browser when visiting other sites. Accompanied by the built in user controlable functions you may have also acquired spam ware via regular internet usage that puts your name on mailing lists for select vendors. Learning to set these built in browser functions and using the appropriate malware cleaning software would have saved you the problems that your now complaining about. I would challenge you to type the name of any well known sales product in an email or forum and visit a site regarding the product and then see what happens there after.

No it was a direct solicitation written by the rep, referring to my participation on punaweb and speculating on what my initials stood for. I have not EVER searched for water filters on the internet, and there is a high level of separation between my email account and internet searches. The Berkeyguy went through and emailed people who participate on this forum. I don't know why some of you are so defensive of this guy.

I asked him to stop yesterday and believe he has. It was a newbie plus enthusiasm for his product.
