RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 12-13-2014 Yes it did. RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - shockwave rider - 12-13-2014 This thread should be named "Because I want to talk about me..." Don't feed the troll. RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - lavalava - 12-13-2014 Blah, blah, blah. STFU! RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - opihikao - 12-13-2014 Aloha kakahiaka, Kathy, and all. (Waving back...[]) Sorry about the no email listed, however, due to various reasons, including ugly/threatening experiences some have endured, I chose to protect myself and my ohana from the same. I am of the mind that it takes all kinds to "make the world go 'round". We have certainly seen that here on this forum. Although I don't always agree with your posts, the discussions that ensue are interesting, valuable, and enlightening (save the nastiness). We have lost enough people here (like Carol) that are valued, and it is my hope you will reconsider. HOTPE, and Mr. Tom, spot on. Pog, mahalo plenty for being who you are. Merry Christmas, Kathy. Be well. (Pssst...HOTPE, I'm gonna fight the kids for the comics tomorrow! I like be akamai, too []) JMO. RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - opihikao - 12-13-2014 quote:[:0] lavalava, here, take this little chili peppa from Tutu's yard, and chew it quickly. Pa'i, na ho'i! (Sent with lots of love and care.) Merry Christmas! [] ETA: JMO. RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - lavalava - 12-13-2014 E kala mai i a`u Tutu. RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - PaulW - 12-13-2014 "I never wanted the name Expert" KathyH, if you don't want it then ask TripAdvisor to remove that label from your account. Until then, your protests are very unconvincing. "It amazes me that this board is full of people talking out their angst over changes, but the face presented to visitors is -- we know exactly how it will be in six months, it will be wonderful and amazing and the lava flow will have no effect. And the owners know this how?" There's a whole spectrum of ways people can react to a slow-moving lava flow, from hysterics to being completely indifferent. Apparently you have chosen the former, proclaiming that Puna would be closed by Chrismastime and advising tourists to avoid Puna at all costs and cancel any current reservations. I say "apparently" because it's also possible that you can read a map as well as anyone else and are doing this for reasons only known to you. You seem to have toned down your War On Puna on TripAdvisor and for that I thank you. I'll thank you some more if you post corrections to the misinformation you have been spreading about Mauna Kea, car rental agreements and nearly every subdivision in Puna. I advise you to read the recent threads about TripAdvisor on Punaweb, hopefully it can help you give tourists more accurate information about where we live. By the way, anyone on Punaweb who even takes a brief glance at TripAdvisor would immediately know that KamaainaK is you. RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - PaulW - 12-13-2014 "It is up to the travelers to do their own research and decide what they want to do." I have seen you tell people they should cancel their reservations in Puna when they say they have made a booking and ask a question about places to go and things to see. That is not helping anyone. "It's free speech, free discussion, in the forums." That is absolutely not true. Anyone who disagrees with the experts gets their posts removed and account blocked. No wonder you want to leave Punatalk after enjoying that type of power. Yes, I know, the experts don't do the actual blocking but their opinion carries a lot of weight. If they want someone out, they're out. The TripAdvisor forums would be a far more useful place if the Experts let people disagree with them instead of calling anyone with a different opinion a "tout" or a "troll". When you stopped posting for a while it was refreshing - there were actual Hawaii tourists advising other Hawaii tourists with no ax to grind. Now it's back to you and that Hamakua snob drowning out everyone else with your impressive post count and even more impressive "Destination Expert" title. By the way, SheaG tried posting on Punaweb for a while but quickly headed back to the Hamakua Hills when the Delete button wouldn't work. RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - PaulW - 12-13-2014 Specific question: The next time SheaG says Mauna Kea is closed at sunset, are you going to correct her? RE: Punaweb Dysfunctional - Nadamucho - 12-13-2014 The summit of Mauna Kea does close, 30 minutes after sunset. It re-opens 30 minutes before sunrise. The gate isn't closed and the summit closure isn't very strictly enforced, but the Office of Mauna Kea Management website has the info on the hours of closure and you can confirm it by calling them. Heck, call the director, Stephanie Nagata. She'll tell you the same thing. I haven't been checking out this forum for very long, but it does seem to me that it has a lot of people who are, for want of a better term, "mean." I'll never understand the jollies people get from personally attacking other people on an online forum, but I guess it must bring some sort of strange satisfaction. KathyH, I don't know anything about you or your history with this forum or with Trip Advisor, but I was appalled, reading that other forum here in Punatalk, at the things people were saying. I hope you'll keep posting in both places and rise above the nastiness that some folks feel the need to wallow in. |
