RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - Guest - 05-15-2015 Thanks for the upbeat update ted, Great news 4-real about the difference. I lived a couple years in the studios of reeds bay apartments some 20 years ago while working in town. Still go diving a bit near the ice pond or fishing at Browns bay, the fish move a little faster and I trust eating the fish more in those places usually. We also enjoy many of the road runners races that start around coconut island early Saturday mornings. We have stopped golfing down at banyans over the years due to the sorry course conditions and higher prices. We also try to avoid the night life down banyans as we have seen or had a few experiences not so heart warming over the years. Good to hear ted, that the conditions are improving as we both know how it can get if its not a continued priority now with the additional visitors sure to come. RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - TomK - 05-15-2015 How about we kill two birds with one stone? Build the TMT on top of the Naniloa. Downside is you'll have to share the bar with astronomers but on the other hand Hilo will become famous world-wide. It'd also mean the best astronomers' residence I've ever visited... RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - kalakoa - 05-16-2015 Hopefully the Hilton can send some lawyers to "help" DLNR with Banyan Drive. http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/news/local-news/condo-problems-mount RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - SBH - 05-16-2015 I thought the Naniloa was going to become the Wyland Hotel. http://bigislandnow.com/2013/11/12/wyland-partnership-buys-naniloa-resort-for-5-2-million/ He must have sold it to DoubleTree. RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - pahoated - 05-16-2015 The OP article states" "Marine artist Wyland also is part of the project." The hard part was getting it out of bankruptcy. Probably Wyland realized it was a bigger project than his company could handle itself and he partnered with Hilton. "Aloha also means goodbye. Aloha!" RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - PunaMauka2 - 05-16-2015 The OP article states" "Marine artist Wyland also is part of the project." so, the military has their dirty little fingers involved in this project too, i see. RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - mac nut - 05-16-2015 I thought the whole Banyan Drive area was on a lease that was due to expire in a year? RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - rainyjim - 05-17-2015 I don't understand - Is the golf course a part of naniloa? RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - leilanidude - 05-17-2015 quote:I would hope you were just kidding, but some folks here would automatically believe you (gypsy comes to mind). Not a US Marine - an artist/painter of marine life who specializes in giant whale murals. RE: Naniloa Hotel to Become DoubleTree by Hilton - snorkle - 05-17-2015 Actually; he could be classified as an ex artist turned business magnate. He has discovered that you can only paint the same scene so many times and now sells other artist's work as well as inserting the occasional Disney character(licensed, of course)in his newer paintings. Kudos to his business skills; not so much his creativity. [] |
