RE: PGV had a plant failure today and a release. - Guest - 09-30-2016 Anyone know the location or name of the well that was leaking or releasing the gas this time? This old article reminds me just how long some of us have been dealing with these same hazards and concerns. http://www.environment-hawaii.org/?p=3857 Was the hellwell KS8 leaking or releasing again or is there yet another leaking well to worry about? When is the next geothermal or Puna "pono" alliance meeting? It is a couple blocks from Target, Safeway, Walmart, Home Depot, Prince Kuhio, Office Max, Ross, etc. I wonder if that area of Hilo has the highest _human_ presence per square meter on the east side. That said... wonder if that area of Hilo has the highest _human_ presence per square meter All those people are outdoors when they walk through the parking lot, and it's a huge cross-section -- basically everyone on the East side, at one time or another -- yet nobody ever complains about noise/odors from the HELCO generator plant. Either the generators aren't noticeable, or there's a psychological factor. Makes me wonder: what if PGV announced a new geothermal plant to be built on Railroad Ave... Maybe if you actually lived in the neighborhood you might be a little more human in your response to this issue. RE: PGV had a plant failure today and a release. - PaulW - 09-30-2016 We have residents talking gleefully on this forum about selling their house to the county and then buying it back for a profit and continuing to live there. Apologies if I can't get too concerned about this. RE: PGV had a plant failure today and a release. - knieft - 09-30-2016 quote: Ha! Makes me wonder: what if PGV were replaced by one of those Dickens-esque traditional oil-burning power plants. Or not? RE: PGV had a plant failure today and a release. - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 09-30-2016 continuing to live there. And people who declare in no uncertain terms how dangerous the emissions from the plant are, but yet if a leak has occurred, drive straight to the site and source with the highest level of deadly emissions available for a human to breath. Kapoho Joe makes a more rational decision to evacuate, if you think there might be danger, than Robert Petricci: UPDATE (8 p.m.) – Robert Petricci of Puna Pono Alliance said he was on the scene taking readings between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. and did not detect hydrogen sulfide with his equipment, but said “it smelled very bad.” “My lips and eyes are burning and I threw up it smelled so bad,” Petricci wrote on Facebook afterwards. http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2016/09/29/puna-geothermal-venture-steam-release-reported/ No fathers or mothers think their own children ugly; and this self-deceit is yet stronger with respect to the offspring of the mind. -Miguel de Cervantes, novelist (1547-1616) RE: PGV had a plant failure today and a release. - geochem - 09-30-2016 quote: So Harry has already re-appointed himself the Hawaii County Civil Defense Administrator already?
