RE: employment in the Hilo (area). - Chas - 05-21-2017 Thank you for the replies. It's reassuring to know that they are out there. What you're saying makes sense as to why they don't show up in the job search sites. I should have figured that. It's pretty much the same way here. I guess my first "job" is to get myself THERE! [8D] Thanks again, I appreciate it. RE: employment in the Hilo (area). - OrchidIslander - 05-21-2017 quote: Thank you for succinctly saying what I was feeling. Attitude is everything, be it positive or the other. Its highly doubtful that haoles here are ever going to experience life in the same way as compared to some non-haole groups living on the mainland. Leave race and the baggage behind. Thanks again. RE: employment in the Hilo (area). - DTisme - 05-21-2017 I don't see the racism that others see, either. If you're nice and thoughtful and treat others well, you will be treated well. There are plenty of businesses that are needed here, so if you're entrepreneurial, you can do well. Plenty of businesses are owned by haoles. They find places to rent. They operate from home. They work remotely with big companies on the mainland. If you're set on being an employee, though, you'll find more opportunities on the Kona side. Side note: Walmart starts at just over $10 and Target is around $12. the bigger grocery stores are union shops - they also pay well. |
