County Government is the "New Plantation".

I think someone else said that. Not that it isn't true.

The economy is tourism, Federal monies,and retirees. Period.

Which would be almost tolerable if they did it really well instead of just raising our taxes.

When you have lemons, make lemonade.

What happened to the old CocoJoe's maker of lava tiki statues and trinkets. With all the new lava flowing and plenty old lava everywhere, getting CocoJoes's back into production or something similar would help the lava economy with a unique Big Island product that could be sold to tourists.
