People seem to forget what the prime directive of the police is.. and that's to endorse the laws of the county, state, and federal government. If they don't witness the laws being broken, there is no crime.

I met Castle John about 10 years ago. He hired me to work on some projects he was working on and hooked me up with other people/jobs. He was doing charity work for some local people that were living in dire conditions and he asked me to take a cut in pay to contribute to the charity work. Which I did. He had a genuine concern for these people and his compassion inspired me to help too. He seemed a bit off but not all that much by Puna standards. We parted ways and I waived the last of the money he owed me. He was always trying to get funds to buy materials for others and he did lots of work for no pay. A few years later he called me to come do some work on 'The Castle' , for pay this time, and I obliged. He had changed quite drastically in appearance but otherwise seemed to be the same guy. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I think he was a bit lost after his divorce.And the Castle was a mess, lots of young wild men around,and he was renovating the back apartment. He took me up to the Gingerbread house to have me look at some issues. Nothing seemed that odd but I noticed a little tension between John and the tenants. I had never seen that side of him before. Then the incident happened,then the trial. I saw him after the trial and just before his sentencing. The last thing he said to me was " Don't believe what they're saying about me. They're going to crucify me." I only know his side of the story and I don't know all the circumstances but I do know he was not all bad, but troubled. I don't think he got a fair sentence. JMO

broken skull, broken jaw, bleeding on the brain.

Thanks E.W., I don't do FB and I wondered where people saw a video of this etc. Also, I was confused about the Castle John reference. Since it seems like he is still doing time I suppose that means he had nothing to do with this incident? Sounds awful anyway...

The Facebook video got removed according to my knowledge. And yes it was awful.
Castle John got brought into this because Obie mentioned that he had friends in Seaview that moved away from the area because of the negative style events on the lawn. I questioned that statement because I have been to the lawn countless times and this was the only time I witnessed negativity. Then I stated how the lawn is in front of the subdivision, (not even in it) and I couldn't see how the noise and supposed "previous ruckuses" could affect anyone in the subdivision past the first street or so. Then I mentioned the castle. It is right in front, directly opposite the lawn.
I came back to this post to edit in in order to give a warning to anyone who is weak at heart or feel they may be negatively affected by the following video clip of this event in the next post. (you know when you watch the news and they give a warning that the following video may be disturbing to some)
I'm normally pretty solid but witnessing this firsthand affected my state of mind in a way I would like to avoid again if possible.
