RE: Pahoa Library Overdue - kalakoa - 02-26-2023 the terms they are asking for in the lease This is what you get when all the prime commercial real estate is controlled by developers: rent that small local businesses can't afford. Remember what happened to Pahoa Feed & Fertilizer? That said, I think site #2 would be ideal if there were some road improvements, but County avoids those when possible, so we'll get a less-optimal site that doesn't require additional road. The traffic problems will happen anyway when site #2 is eventually developed, such as with a Home Depot or Lowe's or "neighborhood" Wal-Mart with built-in Starbuck's. Punchline: all these proposed sites are still at the end a 2-lane highway that's well beyond its carrying capacity. Maybe they can reduce the speed limit to 35 like they did in Kurtistown. I find it ironic that County wants to build a library there, contributing to the congestion problem while also refusing to create an alternate route. RE: Pahoa Library Overdue - Obie - 02-26-2023 http://pahoatransithub.info/ Just click on this, click on site selection and after looking at the 3 finalists, vote on the one you think is best. I voted for #8. The more services brought to the end of the 2 lane road, the fewer reasons to drive to Hilo. |
