RE: The Other Side - mella l - 03-03-2006 I think a tankard of Puna Kastoff Ale would be super, and I toast to that!!! Royall I met you and the Mrs. at the party and if I recall she was the one with the halo!!! LOL Yours must have slipped off somewhere a while ago, haven't you missed it yet? Hey our own Brewmaster!! Yeah, when does you equipment get rechristened? mella l RE: The Other Side - pam jones - 03-03-2006 Hey Punacat...have stein will travel! pj RE: The Other Side - PunaCat - 03-04-2006 My hubby was so happy when the movers packed up his co2 cannister - he almost cried! Not really, but we were very pleased to see that the coffee and donuts bribe worked as well as it did! We'll be brewing our first batch as soon as I can get the boxes unpacked (priorities, you know). I'll keep you all posted. After all, we'll need some taste testers... ![]() So stand by, PJ! You can be the first! What's the name of the place in Hilo with the brewing stuff?? Doug will be happy to hear there's one nearby! Thanks! PunaCat Ps. How much fun would that be for a bunch of us homebrewers to be able to show off our potion at the next Puna Bash??? And maybe a bit of pineapple wine.... mmm... can't wait!!! RE: The Other Side - Hotzcatz - 03-04-2006 Hops grow real well in Puna. They make a nice vine to cover the lanai with, should you want some fresh beer ingrediants. RE: The Other Side - Royall - 03-05-2006 You can contact the BREW HAWAII store at the following: 808 935 8857 808 967 7121 brewhawaii@aol.com It will be a while before we have time to do any brewing. For now the time will be spent on getting a home built! Royall What goes around comes around! RE: The Other Side - PunaCat - 03-05-2006 Thanks for the info - we'll check it out when we can. I suppose building the house is a little more important than brewing beer.... ![]() But if you get jonesing for some, give me a call - I'll send some over! Punacat RE: The Other Side - Lew P - 03-25-2006 Simply based upon the higher real estate values on the Kona side, it seems that most people think it is more liveable. I guess because of more sun and less rain. RE: The Other Side - macuu222 - 03-25-2006 HPP rarely gets any vog produced by the volcano that has transformed most of the kona side to look like LA in the summertime. All the way from Hawaiian Ocean View Estates to Waikoloa is in the predominant wind path of the vog from the constantly erupting volcano. It's distinct sulfur smell is extremely irritating to the eyes and lungs. Some days are worse than others and not much is ever said about it "nationally". Probably because corporations have invested billions on the Kona side for development because its the "sunny, dry side" ....but the bottom line is...its not the best place for your health. RE: The Other Side - mella l - 03-25-2006 Interesting viewpoint and I agree that this issue needs to be discussed and understood when deciding where to live. This subject was broached on another forum KW and everyone was run for discussing VOG. Go figure. Mella mella l RE: The Other Side - KeithLee - 03-27-2006 Ah yes...the Kona of memory. Lived in Kona 13 years, Waimea - 3, and now on the Puna side. I must admit that it is more an issue of affordable living that has gotten us over here, but in the end I think that this area will be the area we can finally call home. I made the other side trip on Friday and quite honestly there isn't anything there I am interested in anymore. The "local" only style beaches are now being developed or are common knowledge now. This is progress I am told. Anthony |
