Way, thanks for the Calif. update, I knew in Wash.st. they have real problems with lingering smoke, but unlike Calif. there is a real reason. Some are using the global warming thing, not lingering smoke.

Kind of like here, where you can't burn while clearing (assuming water availability and not drought conditions). This was brought up in a thread with Rabi in Eden Roc, and confirmed, no burning! We'd better watch out and call some of the PC newcomers who would ban everything all fireplkaces as is happening in Calif.

Fortunately a good enough fireplace can be had in the 1000$ range that works well and doesn't waste wood! For under 500$, a plain old fashioned one would work for occasional use down below!

There is certainly a real reason in CA, too! We call it smoke, the Air Resources Board calls it 'particulates'. I have mixed feelings about the restrictions. They inconvenience me, but I have tasted/breathed/wheezed the air in Fresno at Thanksgiving!

In LA county, 1956, we had to shut down our back yard trash incinerator! I do recognize where smoke is a problem, but not for pure GlobWarm reasons! Especially the new clean ones, and how about controlled burn, land clearing fires(cordoned and contained in a 6' ring)? in the country!
