If my name was Smith (and I don't doubt yours really is) I wouldn't be shy on forums either.
It's a lot harder when you have a not-so-common last name. Too many crazies around.
I hope the helicopters leave you alone.

FYI, it's not like I'm not known. I was a reporter at the Trib for 18 years, with my name in literally thousands of bylines, before being fired illegally in 2006.

A neighbor confirmed that it was Green Harvest/ DEA searching for cannabis. Apparently they found some, near Aulii and 38th. They ought to be done buzzing us for awhile...

I think there was a lot of info in 2006 when Dave was fired from the Trib. It was a pretty big deal as he had written for them for years (and well IMHO) and it was over a disagreement over opinion/slant right?

Cat, no, it was a classic case of union-busting. I was fired supposedly for insubordination (along with Hunter six months earlier). We were both shop stewards Ð Hunter for a long time Ð and members of the employees' contract bargaining team. In 2008 the National Labor Relations Board took the Trib to trial and a federal judge subsequently ruled that it had violated a number of federal labor laws and ordered us reinstated with back pay and interest.
The NLRB was missing members for several years but is now back up to full speed and should be ruling on the company's appeal within the next few months. Good thing, too, because nobody took my place and the newsroom needs a knowledgeable steward to help look out for the workers' interests. That's especially so now as they recently agreed to a very unfavorable contract under what can only be described as long-term duress, since the old contract expired in 2002.

The helicopter that landed in the back of Seaview Estates a few months back had no visible numbers (used binoculars then walked up to where it was) Tinted windows, no numbers. The guy standing next to me said "It probably has numbers somewhere; maybe hand written with ink pen"
Thought that was funny but it wasn't funny that it buzzed all the houses for two days prior to finally landing.I work from home and had to hang up with a potential client because I couldn't hear them speaking.
My photos turned out blurry

I've seen this black helicopter take off from Hilo airport and operate over Mountain View during the last couple of days. It's a DEA helicopter. I think it has spectroscopic detectors on board.
Helicopters, in general, can go as low as they want only if "the operation is conducted without hazard to persons or property on the surface." (Federal Law, 14CFR Part 91.119)
A single-engine helicopter is absolutely causing a hazard if it is hovering in what is known as "Dean Man's Curve," typically less than 500 feet.
