RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - Rob Tucker - 02-11-2011 Getting pretty far off topic aren't we? Who's trying to win something? What's the prize? RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - silverpenny10 - 02-11-2011 Tsk! Tsk! When will you ever learn? Repeating yourself won't make you right. You have zero credibility. Watch those thighs and nose! RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - StillHope - 02-11-2011 quote:10 cents. RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - dugger - 02-11-2011 Paul W, I said the HAwaiian people, not residents of Hawaii. If you do proper research you will see that 90% of the Hawaiian people voted against statehood. Do more research and you will see how even internal Hawaiian elections were rigged by wealthy plantation owners to serve their own needs. MDD7000, you are a fool and discussing anything with you is useless at best. Destructive at worst. Kings Kamehameha I and II did give away large amounts of valuable land to satisfy debts with Westerners. A lot of that land was sandalwood forests which were quickly clear cut. Many of those debts were trumped up far beyond their original value. The Hawaiians were innocent of that kind of thievery. Before some of you get all upset, I'm not saying they were perfect by any means. I'm talking about the theft of land by devious means. The Hawaiian brand of thievery was based more on a notion of community. HHL was established as a way for Americans to satisfy their guilt. Unfortunately that guilt only went so far as most HHL land is fairly useless. RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - DanielP - 02-12-2011 We are all just borrowing Menehune land. RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - Alex - 02-12-2011 quote:Digger,I bet more than 90% of purebred Hawaiian would vote for the welfare. RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - Rob Tucker - 02-12-2011 I find it a bit presumptuous for anyone to try to speak for the Hawaiians. They are here and are quite capable of speaking for themselves. RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - Alaskana - 02-12-2011 quote: I hate to agree, but are the consequences worth the benefits? The US will *never* give Hawaii up, but for arguments sake, let's say they do. How would the local people survive? Who's money would they use? How would they keep china from coming and doing the same thing, etc. (china was a random example) I agree, what happened was a travesty, but Hawaii will never be the same. The people are not the same. Nor the land, sky, or the world. If Hawaii got the OP's wish, it would become an infinitely more dangerous place for the people here. Little dose of reality for ya, from your fun loving, ignorant, haole, pagan, republican. [] RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - abe - 02-12-2011 i think i would be for the ending of military training in Hawai'i. i mean kaho'olawe was beaten down and hopefully growing back now, i don't think the same destructiveness would happen to the big island but who do you trust? RE: Public Statement on U.S. militarism & occupation - silverpenny10 - 02-12-2011 abe;"but who do you trust?" Not the US military and definitely not the US government that works for corporations, NOT the people. |
