RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - Obie - 10-13-2011 The American Spectator criticized the film as intellectually incoherent and inaccurate, accusing Ferguson of blaming "a lot of bad people [with] economic and political views to the right of [his]." It's not a very long book, and it's written in a style that the layperson (such as myself) can easily comprehend. RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - whalesong - 10-13-2011 Think about the entitlement programs that the politicians get when they leave office and while they are in office. Now, who's really the FREELOADER living off the Govt TIT? Taxes we pay here in the U.S.: Accounts Receivable Tax Building Permit Tax Capital Gains Tax CDL License Tax Cigarette Tax Corporate Income Tax Court Fines (indirect taxes) Dog License Tax Federal Income Tax Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA) Fishing License Tax Food License Tax Fuel Permit Tax Gasoline Tax Hunting License Tax Inheritance Tax Interest Expense (tax on the money) Inventory Tax I RS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax) IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax) Liquor Tax Local Income Tax Luxury Taxes Marriage License Tax Medicare Tax Property Tax Real Estate Tax Recreational Vehicle Tax Road Toll Booth Taxes Road Usage Taxes (truckers) Sales Taxes School Tax Septic Permit Tax Service Charge Taxes Social Security Tax State Income Tax State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) Telephone Federal Excise Tax Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Taxes Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge Tax Telephone Recurring and Nonrecurring Charges Tax Telephone State and Local Tax Telephone Usage Charge Tax Toll Bridge Taxes Toll Tunnel Taxes Trailer Registration Tax Utility Taxes Vehicle License Registration Tax Vehicle Sales Tax Watercraft Registration Tax Well Permit Tax Workers’ Compensation Tax So we are taked when we make money, spend money, save money, invest money -- and die. Ever look at your phone bill (if you have a land line)? Twice the bill is taxes. This is far more than what is needed, to cover social programs which are soon to be a thing of the past IMHO. quote: RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - Bullwinkle - 10-14-2011 "No..it's about double standards for Politicians/Corporate CEO..." Its about every one rich and poor being "entitled" feeding at the trough leaves just the working folks with income who cant afford a CPA to pay the bill..... timely read: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/more-americans-chinese-t-put-food-table-132752601.html I read the other day that 1/4 of our Hawaii children are "food insecure" that is government speak for "afraid of going hungry today" RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - uneedawish - 10-14-2011 quote:Sounds to me that you might want the other protest group,The Tea Party. Congratulations for being Debt Free and without the need for Foodstamps, you must be in the 1% or you are very lucky. I hope you do attend "Occupy Hilo. I think you might learn that there are even bigger issues than each person owing $35,446.00. It's time we finally say ENOUGH to Corporate and Bank greed. Small Businesses need loans, and people need the jobs that Corporations exported to other countries. Our time has come. RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - Bullwinkle - 10-15-2011 There is room for every one and many opinions - sorry if I come across as supporting the fringe right - not my game nor is anger. All I want is a level playing field. See you at the park Aloha the 1% http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/americas-most-expensive-zip-codes-2011.html RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - Chuysmom - 10-15-2011 More and more we have to depend on our communities to provide. How many people do you know that have things you need? What do you bring to the table to offer others? I feel like we will be able to depend on the government less and less for the things we need day to day. This is an interesting time in history. Galadriel LOTR RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - taropatch - 10-15-2011 So how did the march and rally at the band stand go? It was a drizzly day and I wimped out. RE: Hilo Band Stand Oct 15 @ 2 pm Join the Movement - missydog1 - 10-15-2011 I wimped out too, partly the weather. Partly doing caretaking for wounded family member and wounded cat tired me out. And I had this gawdawful sinus headache so I didn't feel I could be that functional. I really wanted to go and I hope we will get a report here.
