RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - jackson - 10-25-2011 Carey, IF this is a life sentence case, then of course you are absolutely correct about bail. I didn't see this as mandatory life sentence as it's second degree "attempted" murder, not murder. But I could be wrong, RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - jackson - 10-25-2011 http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/histatutes/5/37/706/IV/and/706-660.2 Okay, here are the real sentencing guidelines. What I think, bottom line, is that the mandatory minimum sentences are a bit absurd. But as this is the case, the court had to assess bail. Yes, I think, it sucks and he should not be allowed to return to his home as it is so close. The victim will probably need to go to her relatives on Maui and leave her house unguarded. Bad situation. RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - punaticbychoice - 10-25-2011 There is a bit more going on with this individual than is known by most people. Suffice it to say, there has been to my understanding, more than one instance of dangerous behavior on this individual's part. I think that there is a good chance that this thing will be settled legally and the accused will not be a continued risk to the community. RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - sistersue - 10-25-2011 Too bad this lady didn't have an indoor dog like my friend does. When a man broke into her house a couple of years ago and tried to push her around in order to rob her, Tracy's dog, Kika, attacked and bit him and he ran out of the house and she called 911. I wonder if my dog would do that for me. RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - the hare - 10-25-2011 mine would RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - Radiopeg - 10-25-2011 Trouble is everywhere.http://www.bigislandnewscenter.com/hawaii-police-seek-info-about-burglary-arson-in-puna/ Life goes on, with you or without you. RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - force - 10-26-2011 There were some posts on cl about the boy attacking the woman, and while i dont beleive this excuses him, this kid apparently is disabled mentally and physically (deaf). People who know the family is from claim he didnt receive much, if any support in the way of special education so i guess he cant communicate worth a damn. This is kind of half ass information, but if its true, i think it sheds new light on the situation. RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - Chuysmom - 10-29-2011 SisterSue, as I understand it she DID have a dog, but he is and older guy. Carrie "Even the smallest person can change the course of the future..." Galadriel LOTR RE: Home Invasion & Attempted Murder in Puna - JerryCarr - 10-29-2011 The previous theft of the victim's car is still an open investigation, which would imply that no arrest had been made, but I was not told either way. The guy who was arrested for attempted murder lives very near the victim on 14th in HPP, but I can't confirm that it is "next door" at this time. In any case, there was very close proximity of residences, whether next door or not. The first 911 call went to the Maui Police who relayed it to the Big Island immediatelty, as in a minute or less. There are apparently "speed-dial" arrangements between all the Hawaiian Island police dispatchers, thank goodness. Locally generated 911 calls from neighbors apparently came shortly after the interdepartmental dispatch call. That is all the information that I expect to have in the near range. |
