RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 10-26-2025 it's the Democrats that are keeping the government closed There are two bills proposed. One will feed and provide some healthcare for the poorest of your neighbors in Puna. The other will terminate or reduce current recipients, until those who get the leftover scraps will eventually become the bottom 1%? One bill involves minimal compromise. The other is a bully holding a classmate’s head on the ground and telling them to eat grass. And say it’s delicious. I don't see her email listed above. Note that she's not pinning the blame on anyone for the shutdown, or taking responsibility either for that matter. In contrast: "..Today, in yet another violation of the Hatch Act that prohibits the use of government resources for partisan ends, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service website reads: “Senate Democrats have now voted 12 times to not fund the food stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Bottom line, the well has run dry. At this time, there will be no benefits issued November 01. We are approaching an inflection point for Senate Democrats. They can continue to hold out for healthcare for illegal aliens and gender mutilation procedures or reopen the government so mothers, babies, and the most vulnerable among us can receive critical nutrition assistance.” And people actually believe this horse crap! It boggles the mind. RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - MyManao - 10-26-2025 (10-26-2025, 08:58 PM)Durian Fiend Wrote: And people actually believe this horse crap! RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - Moderator 2 - 10-26-2025 Keep it Puna. Does the shutdown, SNAP, do our Hawaii representatives affect Puna and residents of Puna? Then describe how. RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - Obie - 10-26-2025 https://www.hirono.senate.gov/contact/email-me-about-an-issue You have to fill out a form 1st. The email address isn't listed. RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - Moderator 2 - 10-26-2025 Hawaii Senator mentioned in the post ✔ That’s how it’s done. RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - randomq - 10-28-2025 I think Puna grocery stores are gonna take a big hit. In some ways, f*** them because they are ripping us all off, but another way to look at it is a massive amount of money is going to stop coming into our economy. Then grocery stores have to lay off people, then those people buy less, then other local businesses have fewer customers, etc etc. Same with healthcare, those employees, and what they put back into our economy. Same with education, etc etc. Project 2025's explicit goal is to get rid of any government involvement in healthcare, education, and social safety nets for working age folks, so say goodbye to EBT and MedQuest people. I think we're cooked. RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - leilanidude - 10-29-2025 (10-28-2025, 06:44 AM)randomq Wrote: I think Puna grocery stores are gonna take a big hit. I think we're cooked. Project 2025 does not explicitly call for eliminating all government involvement in healthcare, education, and social safety nets. Instead, the blueprint advocates for conservative reforms that would significantly reshape or scale back the federal government's role in these areas. These proposed changes would largely shift power and funding from the federal level to state and private entities. ChaptGPT version RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - kalakoa - 10-29-2025 proposed changes would largely shift power and funding from the federal level to state and private entities Power might shift, but I believe the Feds will be keeping their funding and forcing States to come up with their own. FEMA is already selectively granting recovery funds based on the political leanings of states which have suffered recent disasters. RE: Big Island Organizations & Programs Losing Funding - Moderator 2 - 10-29-2025 If you bring up Project 2025, how does it relate specifically to Puna & Hawaii? How will it affect residents here, taxpayers here, government official’s decisions here? |
