Concern here.

What could be done now, for endangered creatures that are losing their homes to this tree Ebola(ROD)? You know Birds like the honeycreeper.

https://www.beautyofbirds.com/hawaiianhoneycreepers.html

Rolling my eyes on this one! Now the scientists believe the beetle may be helping the quick spreading of this (ROD), OMG. My wife looked J.B Friday in the eyes and asked four years ago, "if the boring beetles could be spreading this disease?"

Only Self Reminders and opinions here pog, click off.

It took years and several repeated concerned calls to the dlnr, Mayor's office, helco, Ormats Geothermal, UHH university, forest division, OHA, and many others, to finally have anyone drive out to LOOK at the many dying ohia trees. J.B. Friday couldn't come out to look at the dying ohia trees in 2011, his excuse was "no class of students at the time".

Finally after another round of calls sometime In 2012, J.B Friday and a couple colleagues did drive out for a visit (20 minutes). Before J.B left he assured us that the dying Ohia we had showed him were "NOT" being killed by a fungus. He said "it was part of a natural ohia die-off". He also said "The bore beetles were nothing to worry about because they had never been known to kill any trees bigger than 8 inches in diameter, let alone ohia".
We mentioned to J.B. that this disease had been spreading for a couple years around these parts, unfortunatly unchecked. He told us, there really wasn't any funds "his hands were tied". They couldn't even take a helicopter flight to take pictures of the current path of ohia disease.
Although we were relieved J.B had finally seen the dying ohia trees with his own eyes. It also wasn't hard to tell that J.B friday wasn't carrying one of those special government P-cards. Four Years, and hundreds of thousands of dead ohia trees later, we are still finding it increasingly hard to trust any governmental or environmental protection agencies ideas, plans or actions, jmo.

Gypsy, I appreciate your post immediately above. Assuming this is accurate, that's very unfortunate, as it appears this could have been caught sooner. I do have to wonder, however, how different the audience reaction would have been to your concerns if you weren't so adamant all these years that Ormat and the geothermal folks were responsible for the problem. I have to say, personally, that I find your post above to be very cogent and convincing. But all the posts that try to connect geothermal to the Ohia die-off just lose me, and impact your credibility in my eyes. A bit like the Boy Who Cried Wolf, if you will.

From other people's reactions, I think I may not be alone in this regard. I just wanted to give you an idea of why you may not be getting the response you deserve. No offense intended, and I hope you have a good weekend.

I agree with Justin. When you start trying to link Geothermal to the Ohia then you sound like one of those 'chemtrails' people.

At this point we have an answer to your original question. Maybe time to start a new thread on how to stop the spread of this wilt and educate people on what the experts recommend.

Agreed with KJ and Justin. Whenever is see this thread, I think: "Oh no, Gypsy's going on about the PGV again".

Found a few new videos that have recently been made here in Puna. I think the department of health and the DLNR either made the video's or contributed most of the geothermal related information, jmo.

One of the videos shows the dead or dying Ohia trees near the geothermal power plant, it also explained that dead Ohia trees have resulted from geothermal leaks in the past. Why doesn't the public get to see the water testing or monitoring data, or is there any?

Take a water sample and send it stateside to be checked out.. then you will know the truth..
...as an afterthought..take sample to uh or a local tester.. then compare the two results.

..What would King Kamehameha do..

----------
The leaks you talk about are from PELE herself! It isn't PGV causing this! PGV sends that steam back to where it came from, thousands of feet below ground.

leilanidude, good afternoon to you. Please don't blame Pele.

Pele is being raped while her resources for future generations are being taken for profit by geothermal investors like World Bank or Northleaf. Jmo

Leilanidude, you wouldn't happen to work for a bank would you?

RE: Ohia trees are dying rapidly, Why? - leilanidude - 07-01-2016

Steam is brought to the surface from thousands of feet down, turns a turbine generator which generates electricity, then is sent back down to be reheated. Then the cycle repeats. Pele is not harmed in any way.

Yes, far better some other sacred place should be raped, and those resources burned to desecrate the sky, spilled to desecrate the oceans, and paid for in bloody wars fought to maintain control.
