PaulW - opening my eyes to another reason why people spread kooky lies - greed. Now it makes sense.
That's just my hypothesis for why islandlvng is pushing the bioweapon theory so hard (despite the unreliability of his sources and evidence - CNBC quoting possible conspiracy theories is neither
a credible source nor evidence). Profit seemed a possible rational motive.
However, the belief may be irrational as well, part of they doomsday fetishization that's prevalent on twitter, reddit, and here to some degree as well. Only islandlvng can actually explain why all the signs appear so dire to them, but it appears to be a willing suspension of disbelief to me.
Interestingly, the return of the Black Plague to England in 1665 was seen by many to be a sign of the end times, part of mysterious and large forces at work, evidenced again by the Great Fire of London in 1666 (note the numerology). I'd expect our responses to such disasters would have evolved since then, but it seems nearly 360 years later, we've really just come full circle.

Somewhere out there is a billionaire taking all the climate news very seriously. Thinking doomsday is coming and they have to do something to save their dynasty. Wouldn't they consider a virus as a good way to reduce our impact on the Earth, reduce CO2 production, and allow wildlife to regenerate? Maybe they'd even hide out here in Hawaii to let it all blow over.
I'm not saying it has happened, just that it could, and they have the means to make it so...

Anything "could" happen. The virus "could" be a gift from a tribe of subterranean moon dwellers. But until there's some evidence pointing towards that, why waste everyone's time by mentioning it?

Hiding out on the BI would be a good idea since the virus does not like sunshine nor humidity. Hilo should be safe even with a dry spell hopefully the humidity will still be high enough to repel the virus.

One of the Hawaii residents on board the cruise ship in Japan has tested positive and is recovering in a Japanese hospital.
People in "self-quarantine" in Hawaii now up to 47.

Japanese man was on vacation in Hawaii from Jan 28th - Feb 7th. Had a "cold" on Feb 3rd and visited a medical institution. Returned to Japan on 7th, had 39 deg Celsius (102 F) fever on Feb 8th, signs of pneumonia on 10th, hospitalization on 13th, COVID-19 confirmed on the 14th.
Appears we could have at least one confirmed case for an individual while they were here - be prepared & stay healthy everyone!
