RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - kalakoa - 07-21-2019 a monarchy would be much more fair to everyone... A monarchy probably wouldn't dither for a decade before issuing permits that weren't really valid. So, yeah, that would totally be more fair. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 07-21-2019 Yeah, rolling out the old folks is a real tear jerker. WWKD? What would Kamehameha do? Reference: 108 Battles - Big Island only http://www.hawaiianwarfare.com/pages/battles-big-island/battles-by-district.php RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - glinda - 07-21-2019 Really, what would a real leader do? It sure would nice if Ige was one, knew what to do. But hey, his first reaction was to call in arms. I actually think, without knowing what Harry will do, that he behaved perfectly yesterday. Up on the mountain, spending hours listening, watching, with humility. It would have been nice to see Ige be as humble. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Punatic007 - 07-21-2019 It sure would be nice to see the protestors show some respect for the observatories and the grief this is causing them. Add to that all the subcontractors who will soon be struggling to pay their bills. Then for good measure if I can entertain myself with the possibility that there may be a small amount of selflessness in the crowd, a little respect for all the honest and hard work leading to the supreme court decision. Ok, I'm not done, and all the people on the island who will suffer from funding being cut to pay for law enforcement and all other debts incurred from the self-righteous self-serving protestors who feel they are the special ones, they deserve more, everyone else pays who does not agree with them. All fundamental components of racism. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - kalakoa - 07-21-2019 a little respect for all the honest and hard work leading to the supreme court decision No, the "rule of law" only is only relevant if the ruling stops TMT. all the subcontractors who will soon be struggling to pay their bills No TMT means there will eventually be no UHH astronomy program, after which we might lose UHH entirely -- but that's OK, who needs an economy, far better to be right. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - snorkle - 07-21-2019 I'm pretty sure that of all the challenges we have here, a shortage of telescopes isn't one of them. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Tink - 07-21-2019 But it does "tell" big corporations that they are not wanted here, squashing all attempts to bring good jobs to the islands, and with the State taxing the people and the Tourii to the maximum they can to fund the States "train set" when they should send Disney and Atlantis the bill ( it does follow the route from the airport to their general location), the Tourii will soon spend their money elsewhere. Then what? Community begins with Aloha RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Punatic007 - 07-21-2019 The subconscious "hook" and sympathies towards the protestors I'm seeing here is in response to the lack or loss of primal behaviors in our modern lifestyles. We are still genetically geared to do the tasks and daily life of cavemen but most people are sedentary, overly intellectual and pay a gardening service to "mow, blow and go". One can see a yearning for primal satisfaction watching the protestors in their costumes and regalia, imitating ancestors and again this affects and engages a false connection on a subconscious level. It's not real, the modern and ancient life is not integrated in this scenario. The necessary reconnecting to our primal genetics needs to be done on a personal level since it's not supported by modern life, you need to find your own groove. Groups can help but the work needs to ultimately be individual. Walk barefoot, grow your own food, hike to the top of mountains and talk to the Gods. At the same time in the "here and now" show great reverence to the presence of the astronomy community as have all great minds and cultures. They offer us unimaginable gifts which can deeply satisfy the ancient primal yearnings for knowledge of the skys. We are blessed beyond measure, there are thousands of ways to solve this productively and respectfully. But without mutual respect there is no growth and the very act of blocking off the observatories is the opposite of respectful. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Punatic007 - 07-21-2019 The entire mountain was never considered sacred, we are hearing yet another false narrative from the protestors. http://www.hamakuasprings.com/2016/02/is-mauna-kea-really-sacred/?fbclid=IwAR3bMWgy9xsSGqMqYioQWXcEp5RCTqgRqHeJa0t3Wh6ZA9TpikdR8gM2UbI RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - LazyLehua - 07-21-2019 quote: ...because he would be stupid enough to try it just to prove to Russia and China that he is a “super power” We all know he is a hack, but he thinks his Country is superior to everyone else.
