I know a regular sedan is about $1k for shipping, but I think you would have to get a quote for a larger vehicle. You might try other resources than Craigslist. This is a cute little option for around $3300: http://www.classifiedads.com/rv_classifieds-ad70808010.htm

Of course, now I kind of want to get an RV for US as an office. Our house has a very small interior space (tiny house living!) and as we both work from home, it can sometimes be a bit tight. *grin* Thanks for the inspiration!

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.

An RV is defined as "cooking and sleeping".

Shipping is by size and weight. (I vaguely recall the prices being similar for a Westy, which is about the same size/weight as a car.)

Propane tank (if any) must be evacuated, and certified as such (the place that does it will put a sticker thingy over the valve).

County building code revision includes the ability to consider any vehicle a "building" if it does not move for 24h; enforcement is probably "complaint-driven" and/or "proximity to paved road".
