How many cubic yards are you pouring? Is it only small piers?

Here is one simple rule of thumb to consider: If your workers have to rent concrete tools.... they are not concrete workers.

Here is another simple rule of thumb to consider: Order a bit more concrete than you need. Form one extra spot where you could use any excess.

I haven't seen any mention of using plasticizers here. They will give you the extra workability without adding water. Tell the ready mix company to send some along with the truck and add it at the pour site.

Hey, great suggestions Rob! Thankyou. I am still in the "planning stage" but I will update this thread when I actually manage to get this job completed.

Agree on the plasticizers / water reducer there a back saver

If you're only doing piers - site mix, it takes the rush and stress out and you can tune your mix. And don't need a big crew

Unless your in a plantation mansion, I cant imagine needing a batch delivery. I don't see any need for being concerned about workability either. As Seeb said - site mix it. Pour it, then sting it, done.

These are 16" diameter concrete steel reinforced pier and all were site mixed via 9cf mixer and poured by 5 gallon bucket into the forms.
I did these by my lonesome and these are about as simple as it gets pour wise.

Nice job.

Thanks Rob... Can you imagine trying to pull that off with Sonotubes and not having to remove the reference frame, etc? It was a PITA but those fast tubes kept it from becoming a nightmare.

I've been handling Fast Tubes for years.

Can one of you guys describe/define the "sting it" after pouring?
