Legalizing marijuana would also free up a limited amount of prison space and quite a bit of police resources, but the cops and prosecutors don't like this idea, even when the people vote for it.

Costco or Ace, their both good. When you first get them, block the motion sensor switch, or leave the cardboard taped over them if shipped that way and pre charge the battery with the supplied solar panel for 1-2 days before use to get maximum efficiency out of them. I have some 5 years old and still working. I set my lights about 8 feet off ground, then climbed tree as high as cord would reach for solar panel. Point the light away from your home, and focus light beam to hit the intruders eyes. You have a "home court advantage" that way and will not need a flash for your camera as you take their picture through the window while calling 911 and your SO is getting the shotgun.

I bought a couple of lights, not the cheapest, but they had a decent detection range (manufacturers quote 70 feet in good conditions).
First was in store at Home Depot:

The lights are pretty bright and if aimed well will certainly dazzle an intruder. They tend to work better as the night goes on, i.e., as things cool down. They both use thermal IR motion detection, so rely on there being decent contrast between the background and body heat. They will pick up cars as well, as long as the engine is warm. They both have 180 degrees of motion detection, but work best if the motion is across the area being monitored rather than directly towards the sensor, so some thought about the best location is needed. That's why I bought two and have the sensors pointing at right angles to each other from two separate locations.

Folks may not be aware but since kulani reopened it houses inmates that are returning from the mainland prison . Those are the hard core inmates that have been incarcerated for years. They are being prepared for release back into the community ,
A lot of the crime we are experiencing is drug fueled crime.
The jail is over crowded and many of the offenders are doing their time at home instead of jail . The system is a mess , the judicial system is broken and the public pays the price .

Not sure why those two would have shared a cell to begin with? Both men from Hawaii yet jailed in Arizona? McCormick may have killed before( I believe here in the islands) and he was a lifer. Its very sad to read The 21 year old victim was only there to serve a small sentence, instead he got the death sentence. Our costly complicated jail and prison system here in the islands doesn't seem to be working out to well, changes need to happen.

It is always a laugh to see how West Hawaii Today reports things differently than Hawaii Tribune-Herald. Also, West Hawaii Today will often have the articles about the east side that the Tribune suppresses.
