Maybe if you actually lived in the neighborhood

-vs-

if a leak has occurred, drive straight to the site

No wonder this place is so screwed up.

So Harry has already re-appointed himself the Hawaii County Civil Defense Administrator already?

No surprise Harry would declare an evacuation - he declared a County Emergency for the 1991 solar eclipse and closed down the Saddle Road to traffic because of the potential threat to the public...

Sure he did! He SMELLED the overtime!

After reading the following post, I decided to do a little stalking on Facebook.

" Robert Petricci of Puna Pono Alliance said he was on the scene taking readings between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. and did not detect hydrogen sulfide with his equipment, but said “it smelled very bad.”

“My lips and eyes are burning and I threw up it smelled so bad,” Petricci wrote on Facebook afterwards."

I found numerous posts where people were experiencing the same symptoms in spite of the fact that all of the readings were 0 and the fire, civil defense and Pgv employees were unaffected !

Could these people all be experiencing psychosomatic symptoms ?

"Psychosomatic Disorders

How can the mind affect physical diseases?
It is well known that the mind can cause physical symptoms. For example, when we are afraid or anxious we may develop:

A fast heart rate
A thumping heart (palpitations)
Feeling sick (nauseated)
Shaking (tremor)
Sweating
Dry mouth
Chest pain
Headaches
A knot in the stomach
Fast breathing "

If they are then the only way to resolve the problem would be for them to move but they have been offered buyouts and have not taken advantage of them.

So what are supporters of geothermal left with ?

Should we start flooding council meetings and demanding these people have psychiatric exams as part of the health study they say they need ?
How about investigating the role of marijuana consumption ?

Maybe a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Puna Pono to protect the rights of people who want their electric provided by the grid and are in favor of geothermal!

At what point does this clown and his lying band of scammers get charged with filing false reports or sued by PGV for defamation, etc.?

Mahalo Obie for your opinion. "You ask What are supporter's left with?"

Recently, Hundreds within our community needed to sue your PGV and it's supporters "AGAIN". This rotten egg release the past few days throughout the community will most likely bring more lawsuits as well. jmo

This other article helps explain some of the PGV operations today and just how often the community living close to the PGV needs to be concerned.

OHA invests big money into more geothermal operations in Puna and then goes Quiet, WHY?

edited to add.

One might ask the same question about Kenoi (or Dedman!) -- I don't offer this as an excuse or explanation, just saying ... look at the pattern, this whole island is basically "people just doing whatever they want", with a mix-in of "people who won't say anything beacuse they themselves don't wish to be scrutinized" and a large contingent of "people who don't care because they're retired/already have theirs".

Not to mention the various groups that have figured out how to extort the system -- which I think is partially a response to the lack of economic diversity: there's no real jobs, so let's skim off the top of what little economic activity there is. (Nice development you have there. Did you pay the "sacred surcharge"? We can keep protesting until you do... cash or check please.)

We can keep protesting until you do... cash or check please.

If you 'd like to make a payment in cash, we offer a 10% discount. Saves the expense of a bookkeeper for paperwork and complicated tax filings. Let the bean counters in Puna figure out their own scam.

No fathers or mothers think their own children ugly; and this self-deceit is yet stronger with respect to the offspring of the mind. -Miguel de Cervantes, novelist (1547-1616)

gypsy - There is a major problem with your post and that link.
PGV doesn't do that here because they are on the "hot spot" to begin with. There was and is, no need for the very expensive EGS drilling syle operations. It tends to used where there is hot, dry rock which isn't the case where PGV is located.

Leilanidude please stop confusing people with facts.

This older article may shed light to how this geothermal came about here in Puna and how the people of Hawaii felt about it at the time. The Puna community now feels very divided or split, wonder why?

Do you see any similarities between Geothermal "PGV" operations and the TMT's project?

What Do these PGV and TMT projects have in common and why do they help support each other?
