It's just a tool.

In which hands it is - that's important.

Someone will use the hammer to decorate the house, someone - to crash the decoration.
Sittal is right - a kudo for the parents who are aware that in their case a leash is the best option. We don't know their situation (Let's say,a kid with severe form of ADD or the parents in a huge stress).

But 3 kudos for those who are capable of being 100% sure!

But again,it's just a tool. But the name of it might have a negative effect on our minds.

Going up to and telling people how they should handle their child is far worse than attaching a line to a kid, IMHO.

perhaps it's just me. But I can't sit around and watch some lazy azz use that leash as a tool to aid his laziness(pulling a falling child back toward lazy parent) who doesn't want to get up!

But who am I to argue with these parents! These same parents probably use pacifiers on their baby too, which I'm against? Hey, it's just the way I am. On Oahu I chased a guy in my car for several miles just because I saw him throw a cigarette butt out his car window. I chased down another a-hole on Oahu who tied his family dog to the car surf racks and drove it around town as some sort of punishment for the animal peeing in the car after being locked up for four hours! That incident ended in an altercation, I mean what kinda jerk straps an animal to the roof of their car!?

I just can't sit around and watch bad things happen to good people, or defenseless animals.

That man is using a technique that avoids teaching discipline and deportment.

Spare the rod and you spoil the child I say.

Techniques like leashes and avoiding responsible parenting create little Britneys etc.

hi beach boy,
well as a mother of three, with a three year old son of my own, (and not that i have ever leashed my child) i do understand why a parent would do such a thing. in a busy area, i would rather leash a child to prevent them from simply walking away when the parents head is turned, cus lets be honest, it happends to the best of us. its crowded and busy and the three year old knows nothing but that there is something shiny and pretty way over across the room.... i agree it looks silly and abusive, but from a loving parent trying to protect they'r child from danger, it realy isnt as bad as it looks. NOW, if the parent is pulling at the child and dragging them.... then thats a completely differnt story, dont you think???
