My God, David...it's gonna be a palace! It's so fun to watch the progress. THREE sets of french doors lookin' out onto that beautiful ocean...whoa.

RE: Ninole Progress - 1 STOP MAIL SHOP - 07-30-2006

David, man that whole project looks like a dream come true. I dont understand the layout but I like your progress so far. If I may ask how many sq ft is the house and how big is the workshop? how much property is this sitting on? The view is spectacular!!! The land looks very cooperative to work with, I live in fern acres, it is very rocky and terrain is rough, I am looking to buy a d3 or d4 to clear my property myself so I can start my workshop. Would be very interested in the material you are using to do that. Keep up the good work and put some more pics up please.
Aloha
Box 4 - the great room, area...whatever.
This box is 28x42 and is one completely open room that will function as living room, dining, and kitchen. Makai wall will be 3 sets of french doors surrounded by 4 sets of leaded glass panels.

Carrie - thanks, sure don't know about palace, but it is our dream house. About 5 years of thought and planning coming into reality. It will definitely be nicest house we have ever lived in.

Kevin - Yep, our dream house. If you go to very 1st page of my pics, there is a plot map. It shows the relationship of 1 box to another. Click to enlarge, it is a bit small to see. Living area is about 3200 sf. My workshop is 24X10 - basically the end of the garage. It has its own garage door so I can expand to outside if I need space. Property is 21 acres. We started working the property - drive, pad, conservation berm etc about 2.5 years ago. The material is ProTEC, available thru Castleblock, right there in Pahoa.
I try to put new pics up at least weekly, depending on how visual the progress is. Hopefully, next week will see a roof on a box. Smile

I just added two pics of the model I built last year. Some changes are not reflected in the model, but it is probably better than 95% accurate as to what we hope to build.

RE: Ninole Progress - David M - 08-09-2006

First Roof - ok, sorta, but 30 Galvamet panels (R20 value) lagged into place on Box 3 - the garage. Approx 49.5 X 30, 3/12 pitch. Still a few more screws, the ridge cap and trim, but geez, so visually rewarding, I just had to share.

Looking great David! At this rate you'll be in before Cathie and me. I do miss the days when you see big changes at the end of each day. You get a better feeling of accomplishment if you can see some change as you work.

Box #2 has a roof Smile

Ok, not exactly, roofing them in order built and right now I can't, for the life of me, remember my rationale for doing this one before Box #1

Box #2 has the 2 guest bedrooms. Looks like the visiting relatives will be enjoying the house before Sophie and I, as they hope to stay there over the TDay/Christmas holidays.
Guess I'd better not take the weekend off.

RE: Ninole Progress - Royall - 08-26-2006

Looking good David! I hope OSHA isn’t looking at the photos….. standing on the top rung of the ladder and on top of a stack of things on the scaffolding. They’ll come take your birthday away from you for that!

RE: Ninole Progress - David M - 08-26-2006

Sharp eye Royall. The short person taking the pics, had been steadying the ladder. The pieces of ProTEC on the scaffold are probably steadier than the scaffold itself, I get white-knuckled every time I climb it. LOL. Sure hope they leave my birthdays be - only 3 more before my social security windfall.
