RE: Solarhart/Solar Water Heating - dirk1609 - 05-30-2008 More info on the "REBATE" We purchased the small solarhart water heater and it doesnt quailfy for the rebate. The small one was perfect for the two of us but I guess not big enough for a HELCO rebate. RE: Solarhart/Solar Water Heating - gtill - 05-30-2008 Nope, the problem is Helco doesn't get a cut, ya gotta pay the mob! (no reflection on the independents who have to work with them.) Just like geothermal, watch them jump on it when the inside boys get involved (in Kau) and they get a cut, then they'll love it! RE: Solarhart/Solar Water Heating - StillHope - 05-30-2008 quote:Dirk, what is the model of your unit and how much does it cost? RE: Solarhart/Solar Water Heating - wyatt - 05-31-2008 Carey the Helco part of the rebate $1000 (Can't remember the amounts) came back as a check to us. The remainder $3500 or so came in Tax credit. I would recommend solar water heat after now owning a system. It cost us $4,270 installed in Dec, 2006. RE: Solarhart/Solar Water Heating - wyatt - 06-02-2008 We have 2 roof panels and a 80 gal tank on the ground. I could not find the invoice but I do recall the rebate was about 65% of the cost. Mark recalls $5800 or so for the system. The Helco rebate was roughly $1000 or so, the tax credit was less than I said earlier. We purchased the system from Drain Pipe. I bought a 180 dollar tankless on ebay from china about a year ago and it has been working fine on catchment. What would be the difference anyway? Scott RE: Solarhart/Solar Water Heating - gtill - 06-02-2008 Wyat, thanks for the info, not bad price, especially with the rebates. I know people who have had em for 15 years trouble free, their electric bill was cut over 1/3. RE: Solarhart/Solar Water Heating - Kelena - 06-02-2008 I think the difference (going on sheer unadulterated weak recollection here) is that if the pressure drops, you can have a fire. Pressure drives tankless water heaters. RE: Solarhart/Solar Water Heating - StillHope - 06-02-2008 Thanks,Dirk .So basically it is about $5K (half for the unit, half for the labor).I was told that if I have gas ,gas heater " on demand" is more economical.
