China is in much worse shape then a year ago. if there is a true crash, they will be one of the first to go.

bodysurf,
It is not the model itself but just lax protection laws.
If we let companies import goods into the US and they have no labor laws, safety laws, etc, they will kill us on price thus closing manufacturing down here.

For the really base cheap crap sold in China, they actually use child slave labor and of course prisoners that dared speak out against the state.

In the four decades leading up to the 1980's, I believe you will find, income distribution improved (i.e., the spread between the bottom income and the top income got narrower). Then came Ronald Reagan and wealth concentration has increased ever since.

John, John...cool your jets [:X] You've had your wonderful last eight years...it's OUR turn now LOL!! And unless you're a Dixie Chick, I can't imagine a loyal Texan who's thrilled about our wonderful President Obama.

Whatever happens we must not lose sight of the big picture. Live a loving life and treat everyone kindly. We are all neighbors and a community that should sustain whatever may come it's way. That said, I'm just glad we have 76 days until the last 8 years are over and done with.

RE: Obama won - Jon - 11-05-2008

LOL... James, I came of age under President Carter, please don't talk about wealth redistribution... He presided over the taking of billions from home owners with his double digit interest rates. It was not until President Reagan was elected, by a true landslide, that my small little world started looking up. Personally I don't believe President Reagan had anything to do with my good fortune, but he made the country feel good, and that opened up the doors.

If President Elect Obama is half as good as President Reagan... we will be fine...

I also remember Carter, and will every month as he saw fit to shift pay and allowances so my eventual retirement would be permanently reduced. Guess, that was just another form of redistribution. Perhaps if I were a better man, I wouldn't take it personally.
