If you ever saw the organization "system" used at our house you wouldn't think that we could possibly find the camera and charge batteries in 30 minutes!
But in truth, many in rural Puna do not have the money to own things like video cameras. If you mapped out the places that get the brunt of GH and did an income overlay it would probably show a pretty good correlation between the frequency of a neighborhood being harassed and low income levels. This may be because poor people are more likely to: A) live in remote rural areas, and B) take the risk of growing pot as a way to make some money, but it could also explain why no pictures have been taken of what many of us have seen. In addition, it may be that middle class video camera owners don't want to risk picking a fight with the "authorities" because they actually have a lot to lose. I am a law abiding educator and I wouldn't go public with footage like that for fear of becoming the target of a witch hunt. It would be a fruitless witch hunt, but could make my life very unpleasant for the duration.

I just think people exaggerate. If they really fly that low and that close for that long then why doesn't anyone film it?
It's a horrendous invasion of privacy and illegal, dangerous etc so film it and send it to the authorities and/or the news channels. And put it on youtube. Is there some reason why this isn't happening that you can think of, apart from the obvious?

Lucky you, if you lived in certain other parts of Puna you would be having a whole different experience. In general the subdivisions with smaller lots like Nanawale do not get the same level of scrutiny as places like Hawaiian Acres. Black Sands gets it hard in spite of its size, because it is in the middle of the forest in lower Puna. Here in HPP we are on the end of a dead end street and they spent well over an hour with 3 helicopters circling every single lot, most of which are developed, not uncleared forest.

It isn't the lot size. The drug dealers (I refuse to call people who are growing more than adult personal use quantities growers) utilize any space that isn't theirs and seems to be hidden. Nanawale has had a fair number of 100+ plant operations in the last year, interrupted. From my talks with a couple of the local police, the reason there are so few arrests is that the drug dealers are growing on unsuspecting people's vacant property. You can't arrest a mainland property owner for growing it if they haven't even seen their property for a couple years.
They are also devastating rather large areas in the forest preserves (which we border upon) by clearing native forest, using large quantities of pesticides and fertilizers, etc. They don't remove their garbage, etc. They are spoiling native forest. In light of this, I welcome efforts to curtail this destruction of the land.

The argument that you are too disorganized to keep the right tool for the job in working order and within reach does not seem like a good one in this case. I myself bought a security camera system with a digital video recorder from Costco, which records 24 hrs/day, after a friends house was burgled. It was pricey but less costly, I felt, than the alternative.

So I should buy a tool I have no personal need for so I can prove to Paul W that GH really does disturb my peace and quiet at home? That is absurd.

edited to add that I work over 70 hours a week at my job and I am not the person in charge of household organization. I keep my classroom, office and computer organized, beyond that I am happy as long as I have clean clothes to wear to work and can find what I need in the kitchen.

I agree more people would grow it but the dollar value of the crop would drop to something more in line with garden vegetables, since both could now be freely grown in your backyard. How many armed home invasions occur over garden vegetables?
