RE: HPP road maintainence - kalakoa - 01-25-2017 Isn't blatantly clear that the bylaws are not protecting us against mismanagement and abuse of power? What makes us think that new blood in the Board will fix these problems? That's what I've been saying all along, but I don't own/live in HPP and therefore my opinions are moot, right? Then again: everyone who lives in HPP moved there voluntarily and therefore accepts without limitation any and all mismanagement resulting in expensive non-maintenance, and HPP continues to grow at a fantastic rate despite these limitations. As an extra added bonus, HPP board mismanagement is completely compatible with County mismanagement, such that nobody notices the difference, overall results are the same, so the mismanagement is obviously acceptable, except for those who complain endlessly on a pseudonymous internet thread, somehow without ever taking any substantive action to address the problems. Did I miss anything? RE: HPP road maintainence - My 2 cents - 01-25-2017 Did I miss anything? You forgot to say how much the county likes it this way. RE: HPP road maintainence - T_W_Sand - 01-25-2017 quote: Many many post offices in this country hold well over 1000 PO boxes. According to the USPS website, both Keaau and Pahoa each have over 2000 PO box deliveries. Physically, PO boxes are very different animals than the NBU boxes, not taking up nearly the same amount of space. But 1100 deliveries in NBU's, all in one place?...Yipes! RE: HPP road maintainence - kalakoa - 01-25-2017 You forgot to say how much the county likes it this way. Right. We need to remove this "rogue County" which ignores its own laws and replace it with a new government and new laws. Because that would be totally different. many post offices in this country hold well over 1000 PO boxes Which PO Boxes are generally indoors and surrounded by plenty of parking.... I'm on your side. We both know what the answer is. RE: HPP road maintainence - kalakoa - 01-25-2017 don't be defensive Merely stretching the hyperbole to make a point -- especially ironic, in this case, because County did in fact violate their own laws when approving these "private" subdivisions' final plat approval prior to roads being installed by the developer. RE: HPP road maintainence - leilanidude - 01-25-2017 Which PO Boxes are generally indoors and surrounded by plenty of parking.... --- The less than 20 spaces at the Pahoa Post office is adequate, even though they also have all that stamp selling business going on and 3-5 spots are taken every day by the employees. You wouldn't need a giant building. Look at how little space is taken up by the PO boxes in Pahoa. Sure you would need secured space behind it for the postal clerk to stuff the mail in. They could also use the locker approach (its done this way all over the US in subdivisions now) which uses a special key for the person to retrieve the larger items from the locker. Why use a 20 acre parcel? That is just stupid. Buy a few 1 acre ones and put the mailboxes on them with a small parking lot and leave the rest of the 1 acre lot untouched/green space or maybe put a small park in with each one. RE: HPP road maintainence - kalakoa - 01-25-2017 Buy a few 1 acre ones and put the mailboxes on them with a small parking lot Still not an allowable land use, County SUP required. RE: HPP road maintainence - leilanidude - 01-25-2017 Still not an allowable land use, County SUP required. ---------- Then have the council person fast-track it. No reason a SUP for mailboxes should take more than a month to get. RE: HPP road maintainence - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 01-25-2017 I counted the mail boxes at my pickup spot on Paradise. There are 204 individual boxes, plus 24 large parcel boxes. I would not want to battle the crowds at a centralized location with 1000 or more boxes, based on the the traffic jams created by 200. Although... if they put in bleachers and sold beer I imagine it would adequately replicate the Demolition Derby events of my youth, every afternoon from 2-6 PM.
