RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - snorkle - 07-23-2019 For a good time; read page 1 of this thread........[] RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - ironyak - 07-23-2019 HOTPE - You posted the link about their constitution without any idea whether the people involved are qualified in some way? I think this is what you are after: http://naiaupuni.org/docs/NA%20Participant%20Guide-p1A_v2.pdf Not sure what the point is, but here's a fun historical comparison: https://www.businessinsider.com/the-founding-fathers-weirdest-jobs-2016-6 RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 07-23-2019 ironyak says: I think this is what you are after Yes, that's it, thanks. Not sure if there's been any turnover since 2016 but I would guess it's generally representative of the body. The Founding Fathers past employment record? Definitely applicable as a basis for comparison. We should recognize any group will have members with... an interesting background... providing the whole with a unique perspective when starting out to create something entirely new. Like our computer giants who first set up shop in their Mom's garage. I always liked this quote about those who travel across uncharted territory: "I do not think your well-balanced section of society chooses to pioneer the frontier. It is always a breed of strange, half-crazy people who go to make their lives where no one else has lived." -Richard Brautigan That said, there are certain skills and backgrounds you'd like to see among people who embark on new ground, whether it's a wagon train or a constitutional convention. Like knowing the boundaries of law on both sides - - existing laws, and proposed: A response from a respondent in the Na'i Aupuni 'Aha Participant Guide: CRIMINAL RECORD - What criminal record. How about I continue my ancestry? RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - sfendt - 07-23-2019 If this is accurate, the TRO was denied... https://www.kitv.com/story/40826731/judge-denies-tro-to-stop-tmt-construction-on-mauna-kea Living the good life - off the grid in Puna RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - ironyak - 07-23-2019 HereOnThePrimalEdge - Not sure if there's been any turnover since 2016 but I would guess it's generally representative of the body. There were a couple dozen who dropped out (which is noted in the attendees list) many over the possibility of allowing for Federal Recognition instead of full independence. That said, there are certain skills and backgrounds you'd like to see among people who embark on new ground, whether it's a wagon train or a constitutional convention. It would be interesting to see a quick tally on occupations of those involved as there are several lawyers, government officials, business professionals, teachers, military, students, etc.. At first glance, the group appeared to have a wide diversity of backgrounds which to me seems useful. I myself enjoy the personal statement of Bronson Kaahui (who is active on social media on TMT, Sovereignty, & other political issues): "Don’t listen to any BS coming from any “delegate” or “candidate.” Force the debate and force them to answer questions. No exceptions." RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - ironyak - 07-23-2019 Wow, Ige passes the buck. https://www.civilbeat.org/2019/07/ige-asks-hawaii-county-mayor-to-take-over-tmt-talks/ “Mayor Kim is closest to the situation and the impacts are greatest on the island he leads,” Ige said. He said both of them share the goal of achieving a peaceful resolution that satisfies most people in the community. “I support the vision he has widely articulated for Maunakea as a beacon of hope and discovery for the world that brings us together rather than divides us,” Ige said. “And we both understand that the issues underlying what is taking place today are far deeper than TMT or Maunakea. They are about righting the wrongs done to the Hawaiian people going back more than a century.”" RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 07-23-2019 Ige passes the buck. The 56 Oahu police officers returned home yesterday and today. If Harry Kim follows his usual path of least resistance in problem solving, he'll open up 200-500 more County jobs: Mauna Kea Access Road Maintenance Observers. Once on the County payroll they can drive up the mountain in CofH trucks and vans, park wherever they want, and legally sit in the road on their lawnchairs. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - kalakoa - 07-23-2019 https://www.staradvertiser.com/2019/07/23/breaking-news/gov-ige-asks-mayor-kim-to-lead-effort-for-peaceful-resolution-on-mauna-kea/ Kahookahi Kanuha, a leader in the Thirty Meter Telescope opposition group, said he was hopeful after Gov. David Ige's announcement today that he was asking Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim to coordinate state and county efforts to resolve the impasse over TMT construction, calling it a hopefully positive move. "I'm hopeful that it’s a positive step in the right direction," Kanuha said at a news conference on Mauna Kea. "Because Mayor Harry Kim, unlike the governor, has come to the Puuhonua o Puuhuluhulu himself. He's been here three times. He has addressed the people. He lives in this community. He knows this community. And so I'm hopeful that his leadership would be much more understanding and, I guess, that we would have a better path and better chance of moving forward in a way that's beneficial to all through his leadership." The term "beneficial to all", Kanuha added, includes TMT if the project is built in the Canary Islands instead. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 07-23-2019 The term "beneficial to all", Kanuha added, includes TMT if the project is built in the Canary Islands instead. Let me edit that, with a fill in the blank: The term "beneficial to all _________", Kanuha added, includes TMT if the project is built in the Canary Islands instead. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - leilanidude - 07-23-2019 I would rather see tourism based upon the Hawaiian visions of the stars via the TMT than more fake hula shows. |
