Donald has to play catch up, Obama had two terms, Trump unlikely to complete one.

But when Obama traveled, his secret service and staff entourage didn't incur lodging expenses at a facility owned by Obama himself. When President Trump travels, I can guarantee his aides aren't staying at the Motel 6. And not taking his $400K salary is nice, but it's a drop in the bucket; USA Today reports Trump's August 2017 17-day vacation at his NJ country club alone cost taxpayers more than $185K. In his first year as president he traveled to one of his properties 38 of the 52 weekends.

Oh, and to stay on topic, he probably didn't send any postcards through US mail. BTW, the sitting President doesn't have "franking privileges" (the ability to send mail with a signature not a stamp), but the Vice President and former presidents do. So at least for Mike Pense, USPS is the least expensive for shipping off ISland.

Some USPS people are great, but way too much "tude" overall in the service.

Speaking Truth to Lies / Facts to Ignorance

If you really want to experience "tude" you should be on the other side of the retail counter. You will experience legions of some of the most self-important, self-entitled complete with a dash of unrealistic expectations people imaginable. All of that, while you maintain a positive helpful attitude. Can be difficult.

What amazes me are people who expect the postal clerk to pack their box/envelope for them, while people who have already prepped their mail, ready for weighing, etc., stand by.

However, I would give the 'tude award to the USPS people over the customer, by a solid margin.

Correct, it will be two terms he completes.

I guess we're getting a bargain compared to Obama's family?

"— The March 2014 trip to Key Largo during Spring Break – where the first family stayed at the exclusive Ocean Reef Club – cost the Secret Service $247,827.50; $182,120.33 for hotels and $65,707.17 in travel expenses. The total cost of that trip with previously released $885,683 in flight costs from the Air Force is $1,133,510.50. "

Doesn't the current president stay at his own hotel at no tax payer expense? And does not accept a salary?

I'm not throwing my support behind anybody, just pointing out that I don't recall anybody talking about the previous President's travel expenses.

Yes, the hypocrisy is deafening.

If you have anything to ship, you'd better do it now:

Priority Mail will see an average increase of 3.6% (Commercial Base). A 1 lb. package going to Zone 8 using Priority Mail will increase $0.38, costing $8.80 in 2021 compared to $8.42 (does not include holiday surcharge) in 2020.

2021 USPS Shipping Rate Increase Points of Interest:

Rate increases are modest (2.04% or lower) for packages weighing up to 6 lbs. being delivered to Zones 1-5. The one exception is Zone 5 at 5 lbs. which is seeing an increase of $1.06 (9.96%).

For all packages weighing up to 70 lbs. being delivered to Zones 6-8, the rate increases are significant at 4.50% or higher.

For packages weighing 7 lbs. or more, Zone 1-5 are seeing a significant increase of 3.96% or higher.

For packages weighing 11 lbs. or higher, the rate increase is a minimum of 7%.

Rate increases for Zone 9 (U.S. territories) are increasing by 24.99% or more

The maximum Priority Mail Commercial Base discount compared to Post Office (Retail) prices is 40%.

NEW: An overweight/oversize surcharge of $100 will be added for packages that exceed the 70 lb. maximum weight limitation or the 130 inch length plus girth maximum dimensional size limit. This $100 surcharge must be paid by the shipper before the package will be delivered.

I recently shipped a 45# box to PDX. I didn't know that except for flat rate boxes they no longer offer Priority Mail as an option over a certain weight. Long story short, USPS wanted almost $200 to slow boat it. FedEx 2-day was under $70.

If one doesn't have negotiated shipping rates, this web site may be of use. It's free and there are no surcharges. If one is shipping something heavier that won't fit into a flat rate box, the UPS Ground rate is usually the winner. Better international rates too. It also offers discounts on USPS commercial dimensional rates (no commercial account needed).

I ship 10 items per week. I pay $4-$5 per on average... I also get 10 items per week with 1/2 from Germany Italy GB or France.. all I use is USPS. I get cheaper postage when I print it out myself at home and just drop packages off at any Post Office..
ie I just sent a 240 yr old Tahiti map to Seattle in a tube, it was over 1.5 lbs, and cost me $11 for 3 day priority.... not bad at all... aloha...
