RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - PaulW - 04-26-2018 "Anyway I don't have much more to say on the topic. Said it all. Toodloo" Make some wild claims, can't back them up, so leaves. As usual! RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - Durian Fiend - 04-26-2018 quote: No one had previously mentioned cancer as a concern with pesticides, but apparently it's a big one for many folks. For me not so much. Rather, it's the other potentially adverse effects to the environment. https://www.revealnews.org/article-legacy/5-pesticides-used-in-us-are-banned-in-other-countries/ RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - ElysianWort - 04-26-2018 Nothing that I've said so far on this topic is wild. No claims either. Those are your opinions. Lots of facts. RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - PaulW - 04-26-2018 I could go back and cut & paste all the HOGWASH you have posted here (e.g. hundreds of successful lawsuits, "not good for us in any way shape or form" but like you, I can't be bothered. RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - Kapoho Joe - 04-26-2018 Get a room you two! RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - ironyak - 04-26-2018 EW's point about the long trail of pesticides that were once deemed safe, but were later put on restricted use or banned outright, is pretty spot on. From DDT to aldicarb, there is plenty of history to undercut any blanket assurances of safety. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/toxic-pesticide-banned-after-decades-of-use/ Given that last year the EU just barely renewed the use of RoundUp , and some EU countries have instituted various restrictions on its use, there seems to be plenty of reason to inform people who may be exposed to it or other pesticides. Again, what is the argument against individuals in Hawaii being informed of possible exposure? With these trends, it's very possible that RoundUp will be added to the restricted or banned list at some point. Or maybe Monsanto can just make suitable donations to successive administrations? https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-reverses-insecticide-ban-dow-chemicals/ RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - ElysianWort - 04-26-2018 Okay so we obviously disagree on a few topics. All good. I like it when you post Paul, because I get a good laugh reading your stuff. I could imagine you as a lawyer for Monsanto, being all critical and tearing apart a statement like that, "pesticides not being good for our bodies in any way shape or form" What are you going to argue the opposite? They are good for our bodies? lol! RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - PaulW - 04-26-2018 I didn't say they were good, you said they're not good! In any way shape or form, no less. Have fun trying to prove that. I have never used Roundup, I have no idea if it's harmful to humans. I just know that despite repeated attempts there has never been any evidence produced that it is harmful. On the contrary, it has been very carefully scrutinized. I'm ready to change my stance based on evidence. Are you? RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - MarkD - 04-26-2018 There is valid reason to be concerned about possible risks of chemicals as a cause of cancer. Cancer rates have risen alarmingly. https://www.cancer.org/research/infographics-gallery/rising-global-cancer-epidemic.html There are many reasons for the rise. Scientists do not yet have a completely clear picture on the role of chemicals such as Roundup. RE: Hawaii residents want pesticide alert!! - TomK - 04-26-2018 Jeez. We get it. PaulW, you disagree. EW - thank you for your argument and supplying links. PaulW - thank you for being so argumentive that you have lost the ability to use the scientific method. I hope you stop representing science and scientists on Punaweb. I and suspect some others are becoming fed up with it. |
