RE: Local sources of Antixx or Firefighter Fire Ant baits? - ChunksterK - 11-20-2022 I read on one of the LFA websites ( https://littlefireants.com/how-to-treat-for-little-fire-ants-for-homeowners/ ) that granular baits like Maxforce were effective against ground level infestations and not against those in tall trees. Anyone have any personal experience in that regard? RE: Local sources of Antixx or Firefighter Fire Ant baits? - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 11-20-2022 I had some 20-25 foot tall trees that I wanted to cut with fire ants in them. Sprinkled Maxforce around the trunk, waited 3 days, no bites when I trimmed branches, cut and hauled away. Its one of the cheapest of the granular baits and the most seductive to the ants. They cannot resist it. Unfortunately, I don't know a way to get this magic up into the trees. RE: Local sources of Antixx or Firefighter Fire Ant baits? - kalianna - 11-22-2022 Thanks for all the recommendations. I'll get the Maxforce tomorrow but I too don't understand the logic of Tango in the trees and granular bait on the ground. Those ants have to get up there somehow. RE: Local sources of Antixx or Firefighter Fire Ant baits? - My 2 cents - 11-23-2022 I'm still very happy with the maintenance work that my little black ants are doing. It's been 3 1/2 years since my last Avaunt treatment. Terracore had me worried that the LFAs would eventually recover their territory, but so far it seems like the black ants are actually increasing. And they climb trees way better than I do. That has been my experience but lately I've seen the LFA and black ants on the same plant avoiding each other. It appears they tolerate each other up to a point. Most of the time I only see one or the other. RE: Local sources of Antixx or Firefighter Fire Ant baits? - My 2 cents - 11-25-2022 Terrecore - I seem to be having better luck than you with the black ants. I haven’t seen a single fire ant here in over 3 years, and the black ants appear to be spreading. I don’t know what the difference is, if it’s something I did differently or something else, but it’s certainly worth looking into. The black ants are much more tolerable than the fire ants. I still don’t like them crawling on me, but a tickle is better than a burning bite any day. The fact that you are still seeing black ants is encouraging. Maybe it’s as simple as your war being bigger than mine from the beginning and taking longer to resolve. The place where you found both of them coexisting….have you been back to see if one won out over the other? RE: Local sources of Antixx or Firefighter Fire Ant baits? - terracore - 11-27-2022 I think in our case it's a battle that will never be won. The livestock are probably spreading the LFA around. I know I've tracked some inside the house on my boots. RE: Local sources of Antixx or Firefighter Fire Ant baits? - AaronM - 11-30-2022 Black Ants Matter! |
