Obama is an Oahuan, or possibly a Honoluluan. We are mostly Punans, Punatics, or possibly pahoadillos.
I think I will be a Paradise Parker, as I will be parking my ass in paradise.

Hawaii was called "Hawaii" long before statehood [}Smile]

Would a Texan move onto a Cherokee Indian Reservation and then call himself an "Indian"?

Texas was called Texas before statehood also, as were other territories.

The Cherokee Indian Reservation is not a state, and the people living there are still called North Carolinians.

I think you need to find your bubble gum on this one.

You won't find many Texans or Carolinians living in Hawaiian Home Lands.

really, so, If my sister-in-law, who was born in Texas marries a Native-Hawaiian that has a house in the "Hawaiian Home Lands", she will not be allowed to live there?

I said "you won't find many..."[Wink]

And your sister would still be a Texan... Married to a Hawaiian.[Wink]

If they had a child... It would be part Hawaiian... as my child is... but I will never be Hawaiian[Wink]

For Jon and JerryCarr -
My wife was born and raised in Sweetwater. Both of us a fraction Native Amer-ican but do not claim so on the forms with boxes to check. We met when I was in the Navy after she had migrated to Port Aransas. Nary a prouder collection of people have I encountered anywhere. I learned that the best response when questioned with, "are you from Texas?" was to reply, "No, but I got here as quick as I could." Moving away eventually, we were blessed to leave with many fond memories, the knowhow to slow cook brisket to perfection, and to make kickazz chili.

Sweetwater... right down the street from where I was born, Fort Stockton and my wife was born in Cisco.

More accurately, Hamlin, but most people never heard of Hamlin. Cisco is right near my best old bud's home, Brownwood...he proudly claims as the geographical center of TX. I don't know how to measure it.

Re: my post on chili and BBQ...being from Ft Stockton ever make it to the annual Terlingua festival?
