RE: What's in a name? - Guest - 05-21-2009 My insinuations about lack of credibility were meant to those throwing cyberjabs consistently at me w/ no name or credibility to back themselves up. Others w/ no name seem pretty credible to me. *edit* I like it when someone like Kahunascott or Beachboy throws jabs at me... I know who they are and they aren't trying to hide behind anything... Besides... I think I could find their houses and flatten their tires if need be. [] Teasing guys. --------- Damon Tucker's Blog FBI Blogs RE: What's in a name? - Likalizard - 05-22-2009 Well, whatever the reasons people pick for their user name, I think the content of what they say reflect the person. I have had many names but my nickname Lizard always has been the same from 2nd grade and stuck as my real name was always joked about. I chose Lika, for "liz" off a keychain in some Hilo gift shop.... Likalizard. My real name? Liz Taylor. (and I am only on number 2 hubby..... . Number 2 and I are waiting ever so patiently to sell our cottage and get to our home in Nanawale and look forward to meeting most of you one Sunday..... Lika "To err is human, to forgive divine" RE: What's in a name? - Kahunascott - 05-22-2009 In my case the name was given to me when I announced I was moving to Hawaii. All my employees called me Kahunascott and it stuck. I use it as my email address, Kahunascott@hotmail.com so I myself am not hiding behind a screen name. Moreover, we have hosted a Punaweb party so many of you know where I live. Damon if you come to flatten my tires please make sure it’s the pick up truck the other vehicles belong to the girls ;-) If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free! P. J O'Rourke RE: What's in a name? - dakine - 05-22-2009 well dakine came to me as an internet nic in the early '90s, when as a partner in a local ISP, who ran the web site development side of stuff, and had all the answers about html etc among a group of developers spread all over the country, I was sort of tagged with 'dakine' by my co-workers, and it stuck. I have used it all over the net since, and until punaweb it meant nothing to the on line communities in which I was involved, internet boards about coding and GUI development (I was a part of a group that created shareware that altered the appearance of operating systems), and photography, which I am a professional and well known to many here for my books that several of you own, and have expressed appreciation for here in other threads. so when I first created an account here I put in dakine as my username without even considering that it would be my nic, and that it would be a little odd in this setting. but when I realized as much I figured oh what the heck.. and now it's fun. it's way fun to watch how over the top damon goes over such silly little things.. oui! RE: What's in a name? - Barbara - 05-22-2009 Damon it's obvious you need more attention than most... For me, If I want to read your blog I'll go to it. The 5 time limit is there because of you. Now Tiffany's Blog is something worthwhile to read. There is more to life than Blogging. RE: What's in a name? - Bullwinkle - 05-22-2009 Bullwinkle was my handle in 1969 Isla Vista during those “days of rage” Great time to be coming of age in Santa Barbara in the 60's- In the 80's and 90's it was my radio call sign - as in "Bullwinkle mobile" - hand held radio out and about - or "bullwinkle" when underway on the sailboat. Identification of the players and location on a crowded net was important - this was all pre cell phone, sailors used the vhf & ssb radio to keep in touch, pass info and offer help to those in trouble. All while moving about the world at six knotts. In the 90's bullwinkle bought a 8088 machine and went back to school for the second time - the handle stuck More folks know me as Bullwinkle than my “real” name - grin. bullwinkle by aloha RE: What's in a name? - Guest - 05-22-2009 Barbara - If you don't know me... then it's safe to assume you don't really know me. Attention... LOL! I seek to GIVE ATTENTION to others. Thus I created the FBI Blogs to showcase other bloggers. My whole blog is to give attention to problems that I see within the community and inform people of things that are going on. Most people that know me... know that I'm actually a pretty quiet guy that would prefer to bring attention to the problems of society... then having the problems brought to me. I do understand the squeaky wheel will get the grease and if I have to be loud and obnoxious at times to bring attention to a needed problem... Then I will. --------- Damon Tucker's Blog FBI Blogs RE: What's in a name? - mella l - 05-22-2009 This is interesting. Why Mella? Well being the third Pamela on the board, back in the beginning ages, I choose to go with my husband's nick name for me. Very simple easy to remember and voila the only one! Barbara and Anna are relatively new to the forum and a welcomed addition in my estimation. Blogs seem to be all the rage these days, and I've been enjoying some of them thoroughly! It is very interesting to me, that some people are chided for noting their blogs and others not, and the chiding by the most obvious and oblivious of all. That's life! mella l RE: What's in a name? - dakine - 05-22-2009 damon - since you arrived on punaweb, almost every thread has either been about you or driven by you. there is no way your self proclaimed purpose in all this holds even a drop of water. you are purely an egotistical maniac that found this corner of cyberspace and has taken over it for your own little daily.. hourly soapbox. I am saddened by your presence, and am amazed that rob has not kicked you out of here a long time ago.. which speaks volumes for the patience that rob has as a person. but your posts have ruin this forum, which is sad, considering the otherwise wide variety of opinions that would be heard if it wasn't for you! RE: What's in a name? - Guest - 05-22-2009 dakine... no one forces you to come to this site and if seeing me post here saddens your day... I suggest you look for somewhere else to visit. It's very strange that someone visits a site on their own will power and then says someone else is ruining the experience for them. Do you quit shopping at grocery stores because the parking lots are full? Rob might know a thing or two about me more then you which speaks volumes to his patience as well as knowledge of people. --------- Damon Tucker's Blog FBI Blogs |
