Two words:
Kangaroo meat Wink

RE: Mexican Food - John S. Rabi - 01-10-2007

Actually, kangaroo meat is pretty tasty, those tacos would be happy to have it in them!

600 JITB tacos are eaten every minute. In my book, that makes them the gold standard for Mexican food.

Not to mention the sole success story for Pepto Bismol.

I haven't had a JITB taco for 30 yrs (LA area). When I had them, they deep fried the buggers with the meat(?) already in the shell. This resulted in one greasy little belly bomber. They tasted ok if you were stoned, but even then I knew that much fry grease wasn't a good thing. Are they still made that way?

That sounds about right. I suspect that they also marinate them in trans fat and fructose to enhance the flavor.

JINB, ha ha. I worked at the Jack-in-the-box near the Huntington beach pier summer of 1972. Now there's some tails there. Err, ah, I mean, stories. But, guess what my job was? Yup, tacos. Tacos, tacos and more tacos, that old place is probably still one of the biggest taco benders in the world, on the weekends, ha ha.

I suppose you want to know what kind of meat they use, because it has not changed in all these years? That’s right it’s the same stuff. At least, last year, the few I had tasted the same.

Mystery.

Back in the day we experts knew fully well that the Hamburger meat came from Mexico, but the taco was and probably still is: Mistery.

I get an urge to have one every ten years or so, and with my expertise I can tell you why they can be bad. Yaw got to almost burn them so they are as crispy as possible. Kills the mystery meat and crunches real nice. Oh yeah I almost forgot, pour a whole package of Jack's hot sauce on each one too.. Kills anything else that might be growing in em. Seriously though, if made like this they aint to bad.

However, never mind JITB, Carlos and his wagon has pretty good mex. food too. He and his family is Mexicans imported from both Mexico and California. For the money, he's your man. They can be found at the flea market Sat. and Sun. And in the evenings, he might stop by Uncle Roberts, with $5 plates.
