RE: The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant - Kapohocat - 02-05-2011 quote: We, as an island, must go local as much as possible. Now if only someone made toothbrush handles from strawberry guava we would be set! []Commercial moment ahead! [] Trash to Treasures will have a booth with a woman selling locally made recyling bags she has sown from left over fabrics that were originally purchased from a non-chain in Hilo. RE: The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant - PaulW - 02-06-2011 "Cars that run on water had been developed since the 20's or 30's. Why are they not used widely?" Maybe because... they don't work? Could someone please explain in simple terms to me how a car can possibly run on water. Self-sufficiency is an admirable goal, but don't forget the laws of physics. They're not bendable. Nature is bendable, flexible, forgivable, nurturing, ... Take care of Mother and she will take care of us. We need to take our heads out of our arses and undo the brainwashing, or we perish. That's a fact that's not bendable. RE: The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant - Rob Tucker - 02-07-2011 I know a guy with a steam powered car. He only brings it out on the 4th of July parade where he lives in Connecticut. Very pretty Stanley Steamer. Of course you have to chop wood or burn coal or something. RE: The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant - robguz - 02-07-2011 quote:Have you looked into SunRun? If you are on the grid you can get 95% of your energy via a solar system they install and maintain. You enter a 20 year agreement to pay essentially your current (or slightly less) electric bill to them and Helco. You don't "own" the system but you don't have to bother with it either. The best part is $0 up front and you can always buy out the system from them if you ever have the money. It's basically creative financing and they get the tax credits. I'm always broke so this was the only option for me. They're supposed to install it in March. RE: The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant - Rob Tucker - 02-07-2011 Sounds interesting. Let us know how it goes. Do they maintain the system for the life of the agreement? RE: The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant - kalama boy - 02-07-2011 Water vapor is the most abundant and damaging of the greenhouse gasses, which is what they tell us is causing the most recent rise in global temps. (Funny how the temps have risen and fallen and the seas have also risen and fallen throughout the Earth's natural history but without humans influence. How can that be?),....but that's for another thread. Maybe cars that run on water or hydrogen fuel cells (that produce water vapor) are not the answer. RE: The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant - dugger - 02-07-2011 Something tells me that you already know this, but water vapor is a "positive feedback" greenhouse gas. The more C02, the more water vapor. C02 is much, much worse. The Stanley Steamer could go well over 100MPH. Of course, unless there were a better system to heat the water than wood, the planet would quickly become denuded. RE: The Secret's out about Pahala's biofuel plant - PaulW - 02-07-2011 Steam cars do not "run on water". They don't get energy from steam. Water-powered cars are a hoax. Physics isn't bendable. |
