I was wondering the exact same thing, except it wasn't about kalakoa, but the protesters who tried to blackmail Maunakea Observatories today. When you have Kanuha running after an observatory vehicle because he knows his bargaining chip is leaving, you know he realized that he had f*cked up.

What if a group of Hawaiians wanted to practice their culture and religion in the parking lot? Or protest their lack of a homestead while DHHL caters to big box mainland corporations?"
This has been mentioned on the social media sites along with taking over the airport.

I hadn’t seen that Obie. Is it often, or with any seriousness? It just struck me as a logical progression, especially as DHHL is probably the greatest roadblock for Hawaiian self-determination at the moment. What could empower a family more than their own home and property, and the independence which results from personal decision making that’s a part of it?

From what I have seen on this, it's not about protesting DHHL, but rather an extension of demonstrating sovereignty on "their land". Why haggle with DHHL over the price and availability of apples when you can upset the whole cart?

Yes, that is Jim Albertini. Been around 30+ years, protesting a variety of issues such as PGV, PTA, etc... and seen often in Hilo each week protesting at the Federal Building. You really do need to get out more!
