Been eating there a couple times a month for years. We rarely wait more than a few minutes to have our orders taken. Anyone can have an off night.

I should have *asterisk my review, as Pahoa in general is not really my thing. Regardless of popular belief Hippy and Dirty do not need to be synonymous.

You can be for peace love and happiness without having to be dirty, smelly and drunk.

Disease just isn't a like of mine.

I did enjoy my food and experience at Kaleos Grill though. Their cheesecake was bomb.

Luquins is a fun distraction when we have the time and money for it. I couldn't believe how fast our food came last time. I've also been surprised at how long it's taken before.

Come in when I'm working D.E. and I'll buy you a beer.

Shoots, I'll take you up on that, thanks F/J.

I like to imagine a time, 200 or 300 years ago, when hunter-warriors picked up their spears and pahoa (daggers) and hunted all day for their dinner that night. Then, after they returned to camp and lit a fire, possibly near the spot where Luquin's now stands, they started to grumble about how long it was taking the pork to cook. Someone tried to lighten the mood and pointed out the fermented banana-akala berry drink was pretty tasty that evening, but then Kimo had to bring up how dirty his malo got sitting there, again, at which point everyone reminded him that they were, after all, sitting in cinder.

Then it started to rain. Everyone ran to the entrance of a nearby lava tube, where they huddled together and commiserated how great the evening had been going until the 50 mile an hour winds blew in from a storm one of them called "Iselle."
