RE: highway 130 closed at Keaau - jlgerk - 01-01-2016 Correct. The wreck was in a passing area. When the lines turn into double yellow, the signs say no passing. I guess they neglected to mention (duh) not to pass if oncoming traffic is present. Shocking indeed. Anyone heard a toxic report yet ? RE: highway 130 closed at Keaau - Chunkster - 01-01-2016 We used to call those center lanes "suicide lanes." RE: highway 130 closed at Keaau - Kapoho Joe - 01-01-2016 This problem would be solved if the shoulder lane was open 24/7. Someone at HDOT has a lot of nerve assuming that the second lane is only needed from 3-6pm. Not to mention the ponding that happens just downhill from the transfer station. It is always amazing what people consider a good job in Hawaii. Even more amazing that people get paid for such work and then continue to receive yet more contracts! RE: highway 130 closed at Keaau - flyingsurfer - 01-01-2016 Also known as Blood Alley. Do you realize that area is just temporary and they are going to tear it back out in a later phase of the widening ? Due to funding issues or maybe they want to make everyone's lives so miserable that opposition to a 2nd road will fade away ! Because of easement issues the intersection at Shower wasn't completed and just wait until they start that. If I had to drive to Hilo more than once a month I would probably move to Hilo or north of Hilo. Puna is currently a hot spot so KEEP IT SIMPLE. Not to mention all the locals born here who pride themselves in never leaving the island, never experiencing the proper use of merge lanes. Where and when one lane becomes open and/or merges on 130 seems to be a problem for everyone, including those who get it but need to keep an eye out for those who don't get it. What happened to the DOT and where the heck is Mayor Kenoi? Is this a Banana Republic? RE: highway 130 closed at Keaau - Chunkster - 01-01-2016 "Is this a Banana Republic?" No, Costa Rica and Panama are arguably better run than Hawaii. RE: highway 130 closed at Keaau - lavalava - 01-01-2016 hahaha should change that bumper sticker to `we are all here because we cannot afford the USVI`. yeah its backwards yeah its nepotistic yeah its slow yeah its stuck in the last century yeah you live here so like it or lump it RE: highway 130 closed at Keaau - lavalava - 01-01-2016 quote: Tribune has all the deets on this loser and his long history of traffic violations as well as the information about his poor victims... |
